Weekend Reading List (01.19.2013) Lance Comes Clean, Stadium Sustainability, Runner Friendly Foods

Lance Comes Clean

From BikeRadar: Lance Armstrong confesses to EPO and blood doping
Lance Armstrong has told Oprah Winfrey that not only did he use EPO and blood dope throughout his career, but that it was also impossible to win seven Tours de France as he did, without drugs.

Stadium Sustainability

From SportsTechie: Cost Effective Sustainability at Collegiate Stadiums
Sustainability is a staple in the design and construction community. For example the American Institute of Architects has become a change agent through The 2030 Commitment which is described as “a national framework with simple metrics and a standardized reporting format to help firms evaluate the impact design decisions have on an individual project’s energy performance.” The basic idea is for design firms to proactively reduce the carbon footprint of their designs. An effort that is well worthwhile.

Runner Friendly Foods

From Runner’s World: On the Money
In these tough economic times, runners are looking for ways to save on everything from gear and race fees to groceries. Some foods, though, are worth splurging on for the sake of your health, performance, and the environment.
