When out and about it is important to keep it real, and Strava announced this week that it is doing just that with its Real-Time Segments, which provider runners and cyclists live performance updates during their segment effort. This adds another layer of motivation to Strava Premium, where athletes can see exactly where they stack up on a certain segment the instant they complete it.
These instant segment times can be sent right to the phone, so instead of waiting until the activity is finished, runners and cyclists can see the results as they happen.
Strava noted this week that the Track Your Friends and Go Hands Free for Android are now available and will come soon to iPhone, while Strava athletes can also see which of their followers on Strava are currently out riding or running. Premium members can further opt-in to this feature and share real-time segment stats with followers. Real-time Segments for Android, and coming soon to iPhone, will also have audio support on popular segments in order to listen to performance updates during a segment effort.
