What do we know about the new Troy Lee Designs A1 Trail Helmet? Not much after watching the above teaser video. Fortunately Troy Lee Designs did eventually offer a better look at the new helmet, along with some photos.
The A1 trail helmet is clearly a departure from the carbon fiber full-face, moto-inspired helmets that the company has long produced. Instead it has a serious XC look as opposed to merely a road helmet with a visor on front. The A1 features a polycarbonate shell, large vents to facilitate airflow and low-density foam padding. It utilizes a one-piece liner, along with a dial retention system and TLD proprietary cam locks.
The helmet also has serious looking graphics including one with gold metal flakes and a slightly more subduded red-and-black graphics version. The helmet will be available for around $185, when it arrives in the spring.
