If there is one thing that smartphone users have learned (after not to drop it), it is that water and phones don’t go together. There are plenty of cases out there, and even cases that allow a device to be attached to an external speaker. But now Grace Digital Audio – maker of waterproof speakers such as the Eco Extreme and Eco Terra – has created the next must-have gadget for the beach this summer in the guise of a simple package that allows the phone to be protected while also doubling as a speaker.
The company has introduced the ECOXPRO Waterproof Speaker Case, which houses a smartphone, and possibly some money or ID, and provides an audio system in the process. The waterproof case is submersible up to 10 feet (three meters), but it also floats so a dropped phone in the lake or ocean won’t go to the bottom. In fact the phone or other digital device inside is protected in a vacuum, which helps keep the case sealed up tight.
On land a small drop won’t be a concern for the handset either, as the case is impact-resistant to six feet. For sea or land use the case if available now for around $80.
