When you’re competing in a triathlon you can customize just about every aspect of your uniform. But then you strap on a pair of standard goggles that everybody else is also wearing in the swim component. TYR just announced a custom goggle program that lets swimmers create their own goggles.
Customized goggles are based on three styles: Special Ops, the Remix Switchkit, and Swimple. From those basic shapes, swimmers can then choose colors and shading for each component including the frame, frame locks, gaskets, strap, strap adjusters and lens color. The three models address elite-level athletes, recreational swimmers and kids.
The Special Ops is a streamlined shape goggle with anti-fog lenses. Tyr Remix is a pair of interchangeable goggles. You can choose lenses for different conditions like anti-glare for sunny days, and lighter lenses for swimming in natural water where you want more visibility. Swimples are goggles for kids. This is where any kid can have fun selecting colors for each part of the goggles from the lenses to the gaskets and the strap adjusters. As with other lenses, you can even add your name, nickname or inspirational saying in laser-etched lettering.
The Swimples start at $14.99, the Special Ops run about $29.99 and the Remix with interchangeable lenses is also $29.99. It’s worth spending a few minutes to configure a pair of custom goggles so you can have a pair that matches your suit or your mood.
