Therapy and recovery are an important part of training. Yet so many casual athletes have no tools in their arsenal to help muscles recover, and treat muscles and other body parts when in pain. Trigger Point Performance has a few products that focus on the recovery aspects, and its newest product is the Cold Roller.
The Cold Roller is adapted from its Roller product, which looks a little like dumbbell weight with rollerblade wheels for ends. The idea is that you roll particular body parts, such as your legs, over the Roller, using your body weight as a tool. This helps massage muscles and release the tension of a workout.
The Cold Roller goes a step further. It still has a similar shape, and the sturdy polyurethane wheels. But it’s body is made from stainless steel and contains cooling gel in the center. Put this Roller in the freezer, and it holds a cold temperature for up to two hours while you go through your recovery routine.
Using the Cold Roller emulates the effects of an ice bath, but in some ways has advantages. The Cold Roller helps release tension in muscles, and provides myofacial release.
“The problem with an ice bath is that your joints and other areas with poor circulation freeze first, which takes movement out of that area,” said Trigger Point Performance founder and CEO Cassidy Phillips. “The Cold Roller is highly effective, enabling greater range of movement by targeting only the muscles whereby reducing inflammation and lactic acid build-up.”
Trigger Point Performance is currently taking pre-orders on the Cold Roller, which will sell for $109.99 and become available in September.
