Plenty of action sports cameras can capture your moment of glory or your agony of defeat, but the ION AIR PRO HD Spots Video Camera is the first that is capable of recording full HD video and allowing you to share the footage in real time via a social networking site. The camera can be wirelessly connected with a smartphone or table PC running the company’s free-to-download app and the add-on Wi-Fi PODZ attachment.
With the PODZ the ION AIR PRO can feed footage via an iOS or Android device running the ION app, while also allowing the phone or tablet to be used as a detached viewfinder. Footage can also be recorded to a microSD media card and transferred via USB if you don’t do the real time thing. Either way footage can be recorded in 1080p HD video at 30fps.
The ION AIR PRO is even waterproof to 30 feet without an extra casing, and it can double as a 5megapixel still camera, as well as photo bursts of up to 10 frames, and sequence stills every 10, 20 or 30 stills. There is even 8GB of online storage via the ION CLOUD.
But for the money – which is a fairly reasonable $320, plus about $130 for the Wi-FI PODZ – being able to stream your activities in real time is the next best thing for all of us who won’t make the televised coverage of our favorite sports.
