Sunday Q&A: Eliot Germanovsky Talks New Boating Technology

Summer is here and now is the time to get wet and wild. And Eliot Germanovsky of BoatsToGo talked with us about the new innovations in practical boats that can be folded, inflated and ready for the water. Best of all these boats are compact enough that they can be easily transported and stored when not in use.

KineticShift: We’re seeing a lot of innovation in easy to store and easy to travel boats? What is making this possible? Is it the materials in part?
Eliot Germanovsky: We feel there is a demand for foldable paddle boards, because there are a lot of people who live in apartment, condos and have no space or ability to store full size boats or paddle boards or kayaks. Therefore, portability is issue here. Foldable paddle boards are allows people to break otherwise large and bulky board in several pieces and easily stores it under bed or in a closed, etc. Separated pieces of paddle boards are also easy to transport even in a small car.

PROBLEM: Hard-hull fiberglass SUPs are heavy and bulky. It is a pain for transportation and storage. Try to bring a full size paddle board into a condo or apartment building, squeeze it into an elevator, or find room for it in a cramped urban habitat; and then… You have to bring it down, tie it up to the roof rack of your car, or buy truck just to take the paddle board to the water. And expensive SUPs can be easily stolen from roof racks or the back of a track. All around, too many efforts!
SOLUTION: Foldable SUP’s that break into 3 equal pieces that are more manageable for storage and transportation. Carry them all together or piece-by-piece!

KS: Do you think these products are also getting more people interested in water sports?
EG: Sure. There are a lot of people who otherwise would not be able to afford watersports, such as stand up paddling. If there is no place to store SUP board at home, than there is no way to use it. Right? We just had sold several foldable paddle board to the people who had never did paddling before. So, now they can afford it.

KS: Are these boats also more affordable than other water craft?
EG: Our goal as a company is to make boating affordable. That is why all our products, Saturn inflatable boats, inflatable kayaks, inflatable paddle boards and new foldable paddle boards are offered at very modest prices. We sell foldable paddle board for only $899! That is very affordable, taking in account that regular non-foldable paddle boards starting at about $1000 bucks.

KS: What new can we expect from BoatstoGo for this year?
EG: We have a lot of new and innovative products.

Transformer SUP paddle that come with 2nd free blade that converts SUP paddle into kayak paddle. This is our invention, no one else offer anything like that.

Waterproof MP3 stereo boom boxes! Who else sells anything like that? This small device has unbelievable sound quality for its size. And it comes with free dry bag that allows music playback on water, in a boat or under water!

Disposable Floating Docks for kayaks. This is basically just a shell that can be filled with Styrofoam sheets that are sold in Home Depot to make nice floating platform for small watercraft.

New and unique adjustable width 2-bow bimini that can be mounted on full size inflatable boat or kayaks or canoe. And it has special attachments to install optional solar batteries on top.

Short-shaft 55 lbs Electric trolling motors specifically designed for use with kayaks and canoe.

And what about our KaBoats crossover? I think it is pretty unique product. Actually I invented it myself. This is crossover between inflatable boat and inflatable kayak that goes twice as fast as regular boat due to its narrow profile.
