Runtastic added two features to its activity tracking app. Ideal Weight 2.0 and Altimeter are now part of the Runtastic Pro apps, which cost about $3.99 in the Android and iPhone app stores.
Ideal Weight 2.0 is a BMI calculator that helps users determine and reach a healthy weight. The app graphs weight history, provides diet and fitness tips, and compares user weight to averages based on age, gender and country. Users can also post their successes online, and get encouragement from their social network.
The Altimeter offers more information for outdoor excursions. It adds a compass feature that aids navigation, and provides data such as altitude, temperature, GPS coordinates and sunrise and sunset times. You can plan your workout to happen during sunrise so you can watch the event, or avoid stretching your workout past dark.
“Ideal Weight and Altimeter compliment our core runtastic and runtastic Pro apps, which help athletes of all levels track and share their workouts,” said runtastic CEO Florian Gschwandtner. “Ideal weight and Altimeter are great, easy-to-use apps that will help with any fitness goal, from losing five pounds to climbing Mt. Everest.”
