All off-road trails are not the same, yet there are numerous ways to adjust a mountain bike fork while riding. With the flip of a switch or press of a button a fork can be adjusted to accommodate trail conditions. Tire pressure remains another issue. To actually change tire pressure typically requires the rider to stop to add or release air from the tires. ADAPTRAC has another solution, and its designers have created a new system that allows writers to actually inflate or deflate tire pressure well in motion.
Riders can add or release air from their front and rear tires via I’m down to mounted rechargeable compressed air tank. Hoses mounted to the frame allow the air to travel either the front or rear wheel. A special ADAPTRAC hub is required, and this features a special low friction rotary seal, which keeps the air from escaping while also allowing the wheel to rotate normally. From the hub the air travels through another home leading to the tires valve system. All this is controlled from toggle switches on the handlebars, where riders can monitor current tire pressure via analogue gauges.
This is currently in the prototype stage, but is being shown at this week’s Sea Otter Classic Expo in Monterey, California. This could certainly appeal to those who like to hit the trail and stop for nothing.
