Last week we posted about Nike’s knit shoes, and now the company has gone to the other extreme with Nike+ Basketball and Nike+ Training shoes that are digital! The shoes feature a sensor system that can sync with software to provide wearer’s with detailed information to help during training and to track performance.

The sensor measures movement during a game, practice or workout and transmit the data wirelessly to a smartphone that is running a compatible app. Functions include “Track My Game” mode, which offers the ability to track how high a player might jump during a game, while tracking every movement and providing information to the wearer. The software also allows for a “Showcase” mode, a feature that “allows players to record a dunk and superimpose their live data on the video, which can then be shared with their friends via social media.”
The training mode further provides a program that consists of a series of short, sharp workouts, which are designed to help the user get fitter, faster and stronger. The shoes will arrive in June.
