Many people in the Netherlands don’t own cars and rely on bicycles to get around. But even those who do own a car tend to use the bike as a “second car,” and that’s what the designers of Urban Arrow are aiming for this new cargo bike.
Bakfiets Urban Arrow is a multi-function cargo bike that includes a padded, rain-protected cargo box but as taken the concept beyond pedal power, adding an electric motor to help riders get from point A to point B. The bike was first unveiled at the 2010 Eurobike trade show and is being demonstrated at this year’s show. As the video suggests this could easily be a second car for just about anyone – the question is whether the car crowd could be swayed to become pedal pushers.
