Easton Sports is supplying its Power Brigade bat, along with other equipment, to players in the Little League Baseball World Series taking place August 16 through 26 in Williamsport, PA. This is the first time the new bat will be swung in competition.
The Power Brigade Series is a line of six bats that offer different advantages. The composite and aluminum bats replicate the wood patterns used in the pros, so you can get more speed, more power, and less sting with each swing.
Most of the bats in the series feature a two-piece ConneXion design with a carbon or composite handle that absorbs the vibration to reduce the sting. The Power Brigade S2-10 in the Speed Series offers a low M.O.I., or moment-of-inertia, which is experienced when a batter changes direction of the swing. While the ConneXion technology helps take some of the sting out batting, it optimizes the feel at impact. The S2 has a scandium alloy barrel, which offers durability and expanded sweet spots.
The XL Series is another focus of the Power Brigade series. Extra long barrels are designed to give players expanded hitting zones and more mass in the barrel. The XL1-5 has an extra long barrel designed for massive sweet spot and expanded hitting zone. It also uses the two-piece ConneXion technology for optimized feel at impact and better energy transfer. An IMX composite barrel and an ultra thin CNT composite handle pair up to make for more power in hitting.
The Easton Sports Power Brigade Series bats don’t come cheap. The Most expensive bats go for $299.95, though the Power Brigade S3 goes for about $150.
Easton Sports is supplying Power Brigade bats, batting gloves, shoes and catcher’s gear to participants of the 2012 Little League Baseball World Series this month. The company is also putting batters into the Easton HIT Lab, which is an interactive batting system that provides analytics to custom fit players’ swings to the correct bat in the Power Brigade series.
