If you’re on your feet a bit, they probably hurt. You may at least need out of your shoes after a long day. Swiss shoemaker Joya claims to have the opposite effect on the wearer. MBT shoe creator Karl Müller sold his company and went on to create Joya Shoes.Joya are part of the “comfort shoe” category. The shoes are meant to be “joyful, fun and effortless” to wear. While the company says Joya Shoes don’t make any health claims to tone muscles, they promote walking and movement. A pressure-mapping comparison with other shoes including rocker sole, normal shoes and athletic shoes shows Joya shoes don’t have the same hotspot issues as those other shoes.
While the company says the real benefit of the shoe can’t be put into words, and must be experienced to understand, a video of the shoe construction shows the heel is built up just a bit, and collapses with each step. Holes in the shoe insert then pump air and possibly tactile pressure into the soles of your feet. That’s bound to stimulate your feet and keep them fresh with each step.
I have been testing and wearing Joya shoes since late January, 2011. Here’s a link to a product review:
