Gates Holds Frame Design Contest for 2012 NAHBS

To celebrate its three-year sponsorship of the North American Handmade Bicycle Show (NAHBS), Gates Carbon Drive is holding a frame design contest for the 2012 NAHBS taking place in Sacramento March 2-4. The contest encourages bike makers to build frames for use with the Gates Carbon Drive. Bike entries will be judged on sliding dropouts, belt tensioning systems, frame splits and a number of other design factors.

Gates is awarding a total of $8,750 in cash and prizes. A first prize winner will receive $2,500 cash plus 10 Carbon Drives worth $250. A second prize winner will receive 10 Carbon Drives worth $2,500. A third prize winner  will receive five Carbon Drives worth $1,250.

Entrants will have to show and demonstrate their contest designs and prototypes in front of a panel at the 2012 NAHBS show. Winners get to display their bikes in the Gates booth on the last day of the show.
