Last year we saw a few goofy ideas like the treadmill desk, which is something we praised but in all truthfulness knew was a crazy idea. But yet, every time we hit the gym somewhere we see people checking e-mail, looking at apps or even trying to surf the Web on their mobile smartphones.
So with that in mind, we love the idea of the newly announced ProForm TrailRunner 4.0 treadmill, which features a 10-inch touch screen monitor with Web browser powered by Android. This allows users to put in the distance while still watching news, sports highlights or accessing social media sites such as Facebook and Twitter. Users can further check and send e-mail while treading the time away.
The treadmill is integrated with iFit Live Technology, which further provides customized workout programs that can be downloaded directly to the Android-powered touchscreen. Courses are easily downloaded to the treadmill with map views on the console and real terrain features with automatic incline adjustments. Users can get the most out of iFit Live™ Technology with the built-in web browser, which will automatically upload the workout results to iFit.com, creating an easily managed profile.
The treadmill is further built with ProTech Advanced Adjustable Cushioning, so you can feel like you’re practically running on a cloud. The unit’s motor also includes a self-cooling system to ensure that the components remain cool and go the distance, while the 2-ply treadbelt makes for sturdy, slip proof running surface.
So while it isn’t a treadmill desk, it should offer enough to let users interact and put in a little more distance before heading back to an actual desk.
