Recon-GlassesRecon Instruments have introduced a range of heads-up displays that can be used for skiing and snowboarding as well as skydiving. These can provide speed, distance and other useful information. However, the goggles for skiing aren’t exactly going to work while running on the beach.

To this end Recon has gotten Jet powered, and has introduced a stylish pair of sun glasses that provide the same heads-up display but in a much smaller package. These were revealed at the Google I/O event last month.

The Jet features a dual-core processor, dedicated graphics, GPS, HD camera, speaker and microphone. The glasses offer wireless connectivity to compatible devices via Wi-Fi, Ant+ and Bluetooth 4.0. Liberty Safe has introduced the latest addition to its line of portable and wireless alarm system. The SafElert is a compact 3x2x1-inch wireless high-tech communication device that can be employed almost anywhere. While ideal for helping secure a firearm, it could be used with the liquor cabinet, dresser drawers or in other applications.

The alarm and reports can be sent as texts or emails through a home’s Wi-Fi system, or sent via email messaging to a mobile phone via the Elertus Cloud service. Up to five people can receive this information as well The alarm can notify the users if any safe or door is jarred, hit, pried, moved, opened or over-heated. Fujifilm has introduced its latest line of Wi-Fi cameras and these include the FinePix XP200, a rugged model that is waterproof to a depth of 15meters (50 feet), shockproof to a drop of two meters, is dustproof and can operate in low temperatures to 14 degrees F.

This camera is not light on features, and includes a 16megapixel CMOS sensor, and offers continuous shooting at a speed of 10fps, along with ultra high speed shooting at 60fps. There is a 5x optical zoom, and a 10x Intelligent Digital Zoom. GoPro Goes to the App

Capturing the moment of triumph on video is easier than ever thanks to numerous wearable cameras, and this year the industry leader GoPro looks to maintain that lead by offering an iPhone/Android app that is compatible with the Wi-Fi BackPac, so users can control up to 50 Hero2 camera from a handset! This could allow large organizers in bike tours to capture action from multiple angles, or let race organizers in a variety of sports record footage from around the course without the need of multiple cameramen.

The app will allows users to view recorded footage, but the next step coming from the app will be the option to stream live video to a smartphone. The app will reportedly be free while the Wi-Fi kit is just $99.

JVC Introduces Shockproof Action Camera

Last week we noted that Sony was diving into the rugged camcorder space, and now JVC has announced the GC-XA1 ADIXXION, a pocket sized camera the is just .28 pounds and is freeze-proof, dustproof and waterproof to five meters (16.4 feet), while being shockproof to two meters (6.5 feet).

IHRSA: Ant+ the WASP

Things are sounding buggy with Ant+ but neither in the insect way, nor in the problematic area. Rather Ant Wireless and North Pole Engineering demonstrated the latest wireless fitness solution at last week’s IHRSA 2012 in Los Angeles, which included NPE’2 newly-launched WASP.

This is an ANT+ enabled Wi-Fi bridge that facilitates the demand for accessible, networked data in a club group environment. This completely portable and expandable system automatically links with over 30 brands of ANT+ digital heart straps, and modularized solutions allow for unlimited class sizes.
