When something goes wrong with a bike most of us take it to the shop. Someone at the shop usually then brings it in the back and we pick up the bike. We thank the guy who rolls it out but often the unsung “hero” is the bike mechanic. In many shops we never see that guy or gal.
But now WD-40 BIKE has announced a “Wrench of the Month Program,” which is intended to shine a spotlight on the men and women behind the scenes at bicycle retailers nationwide. This program is there to applaud those who repair, assemble, mend or otherwise tend to our bikes. Kudos to them and kudos to WD 40 for launching this program, which let riders nominate their favorite mechanics online!
For years many shop mechanics have said to keep WD-40 away from the bikes. While WD-40 is good for solving a squeaky hinge or for helping loosen a rusty nut, the lubricant wasn’t really meant for a bicycle chain. But now WD-40 has announced the launch a new subsidiary business unit that is focused exclusively on cycling-specific maintenance products.
