While security is tight at Sochi some American athletes will be suited up in armor – or at least Under Armour’s new speedskating uniform. For the 2014 games Under Armour partnered with Team USA and Lockheed Martin to create a skinsuit that should be a speed machine on the ice. The Mach 39 could be a game changer that helps Americans bring home the gold this year.

Made in America: Uniformity
When the U.S. Olympic team headed to London it wore uniforms made in China, but not this time. Team USA will head to Sochi, Russia in just two weeks wearing uniforms designed by fashion icon Ralph Lauren that were made in the USA. The uniforms don’t come cheap, but can we really put a price on going for the gold?
We wish our U.S. Olympic team the best luck as they head to the games. May they have safe games as well.

BMW Bobsled Ready to Run
Last November we heard that German automaker BMW was developing a bobsled through its BMW DesignworksUSA branch, and this week the first photos were released. Apparently two prototypes have been built and while the first one race, this was reportedly to test the aerodynamics. The second prototype has just started racing.
It won’t be used in next year’s 2014 Sochi Winter Olympic Games, but the prototype will help the Designworks team make tweaks to build a production sled. And there seems to be room for improvement. Continue reading BMW Bobsled Ready to Run

The Pennsylvania-made Olympic apparel will be on display in the museum’s ground floor lobby through Sunday, Sept. 9, which coincides with Harrisburg’s popular Gallery Walk event. Nike Outfits Olympic BMX Riders
The BMX competition at the Olympics is still a week away, but Team USA riders are probably already suiting up in their Nike uniforms, which have gotten rave reviews. While the fashionable uniforms have turned heads, the riders will get the technological benefits when they go for the cloud.
Nike reportedly spent the past two and a half years developing the uniforms, which include protruding bumps on the arms and sides of the torso, that are being called “Speed Dots.” The small air-deflecting dots are rumored to have been wind-tunnel tested for America’s fastest BMX racers, and will give Team USA just one more tiny edge over their competition, and in a sport where thousandths of a second can be the difference between Gold and Silver, this high-tech clothing may come in handy. U.S. Suits Up With Sunice
The Emerald Isles are known for many things, including their green beauty. This makes for scenic golf courses, but it can be a little… wet too. There is a joke that there are two kinds of weather in Ireland, which are raining and going to rain. The U.S. Solheim Cup Team will be able to beat the weather and stay warm and dry as it suits up with Sunice Outerwear for this month’s event at Killeen Castle in County Meath, Ireland.
Rosie Jones, the U.S. team captain, selected Sunice for its attention to styling and exceptional performance in a difficult wet climate and the players will wear as part of their exclusive uniform multiple Sunice garments manufactured using only Gore-Tex fabrics to ensure they are provided ultimate performance and protection from the elements.
“As we get closer to the Solheim Cup, the anticipation is mounting as we anxiously await the appearance of Team USA in their custom-designed Sunice outerwear suits,” said Mark Fletcher, President of Sunice. “The design and development process that involved our top product people working in conjunction with Rosie Jones and her assistants was a fun experience and we worked well together as a team.” Continue reading U.S. Suits Up With Sunice
