Speed Stick Heated Snowboard—Go Faster!Dave Lee and the Signal Snowboards crew get back to the base-ics, experimenting with new technology to actually heat up the base of a snowboard and test out their theory that a hot base will go faster. Dave explains that the snow sliding action actually works from friction heating up the snow and forming a thin layer of water that the board slides on, but what if we speed up that process by incorporating a heat film into the base?

While we know we live in a somewhat disposable society that isn’t always a bad thing. The crew at Signal Snowboards did it again, and this month’s Every Third Thursday project involved a totally disposable paper snowboard.
Because it was paper it should be mostly biodegradable.
The right for the job can make a big difference and the Leatherman Hail Snowboard Tool is one that will come in handy on the slopes, and because it is TSA-compliant this pocket multi-tool won’t hang you at the airport. It was designed in collaboration with Signal Snowboards so it isn’t just any old tool marketed for snowboarders. It features needlenose pliers, standard pliers, wire cutters, both flat and Phillips screwdrivers, tweezers, a scraper, a lacing assistant, a nail file, a carabiner, a 10mm wrench, and even a bottle opener.

Need to rent a pair of skis or a snowboard? Don’t stand in line or wait on hold, use the smartphone the smart way. Signal Snowboards founder Dave Lee is helping promote the new rental service and mobile app Spinlister, which allows users to rent a board or skis from the handset. This even allows individuals to rent out their gear as well.
This Android and iOS app lets users list snowboards and rent snowboards anywhere in the world, with all listings GPS located to make it easy to find the gear near you. In addition, everything is exchanged through the app and listers are completely covered through the Spinlister insurance policy.

Normally we’d expect to see snowboarders hitting the white stuff on the ski slopes not heading to the California desert. But it isn’t every day that is Every Third Thursday, and the guys at Signal Snowboards looked to do something different this month.
