Minimal Acceleration

Acceleritas3Swedish shoemaker Icebug is looking to give minimalist runners some serious traction for the trails. The company is in maximum gear with the Acceleritas3, a shoe that strips away everything except what is needed for stable footing in any terrain.

Designed to feel like a pair of socks, this natural shoe provides thermal and impact protection and yes a lot of traction. The outsole offers a special pattern that is optimized to grip on hard as well as wet surfaces. The shoes won’t absorb water and thus won’t get heavier even in wet and watery conditions. Instead they’ll feel light on the feet while offering serious grip in almost any terrain.

High Energy

NewtonSir Issac Newton didn’t really consider the role of energy in this theory of gravity, but he’d likely still appreciate that Newton Running Shoes is inspired by his research. Understanding all of Newton’s (the brilliant man) concepts can be difficult for novices, but so can running with a pair of Newton shoes. The Newton Energy NR Guidance Trainer is designed to facilitate a seamless transition from conventional running shoes to the Newton way. These shoes will be ready to hit the road later this month.

Nike’s Free Minimal Approach

Nike-Free-HyperfeelNike doesn’t stop, and the shoe and apparel maker has apparently been keeping quite busy. The new Free Hyperfeel shoes are designed to mimic the working of the human foot. This was accomplished by using the pressure-mapping technology and high-speed film to analyze the foot in motion so that the Nike’s designers were able to provide padding and protection only where it is needed.

The end result is a shoe that features just seven components – so this is a truly minimal shoe in more ways than one. These new shoes will hit the road in September. Video after the jump

Smaat-Aleck

SmaatThe Smaat running shoes certainly look quite smart, and for this season the company has introduced three colorful models, including the Midlander, Lolander and Splitlander – and each is focused on the minimalist running shoe trend.

The Midlander is designed for those just looking to take their first step into minimalist running, and can help provide the move towards reduction. From here the Lolander offers progressive minimalist runners split toe tooling that enhances flexibility and allows the foot to flex and have a more natural experience. The Splitlnader takes this the rest of the way and provides even more flexibility that encourages greater balance during toe off.
