The Finest Hour Jacket

Inspired by the jackets worn by British pilots during World War II, the Survivalon Contrast Jacket features a durable waterproof shell along with a dense lining that can keep out wind and water. It offers six pockets, drawcords for snug fit and snap-enclosed hood. This makes for an ideal jacket for those finest hour type moments.

Cycling Jacket

There is a real trend in providing cycling apparel that doesn’t feature logos and other artwork, and isn’t skin tight. This new line of apparel offers clothing for those who like to ride to work and don’t want to change when they get there.

The Land’s End Madison Bike Blazer is such a jacket. While we first thought it was inspired by the epic “Madison” track bike races held in Madison Square Garden in the 1920s and 1930s, it was actually named for the bicycle-friendly city in Wisconsin. Continue reading Cycling Jacket

Move Over Ski Mask

One word comes to mind when seeing the new “technical” winter puffy coat from Comei & Co – extreme. We’re sure it could handle extreme cold, but it looks just so – extreme. The hood zips shut over the face, and built-in lenses mean you don’t need separate goggles. Fittingly the name for this winter coat is the Matt Nylon Hooded Jacket, but we’re not sure who “Matt” is, but we assume he might be someone in the company. Or not. We do know that Comei & Co are introducing several lens-equipped models.

Where it gets really “extreme” with the Matt Nylon Hooded Jacket is that the hood isn’t detachable either, meaning you can always go for the sci-fi look at a moment’s notice by just zipping it. At least the pom-pom is detachable. Might we suggest wearing these with the Sleestak Goves to get that truly “out there” look on the slopes?

LED Jacket to Light the Way

It is hard not to think of the Robert Redford movie The Electric Horseman when seeing the Sporty Supaheroe cycling jacket, which features 64 integrated RGB LEDs and a stretchable and very wearable circuit board. The LED array can light up the way and display a variety of patterns.

This jacket, which is a project underway from the Utope Project reportedly works with an “acceleration sensor” and gyroscope to track the wearer’s movement, and even interact and respond according. If a rider slows down the lights can signal in red to indicate braking, while other movement can indicate turns and direction. For the rider the lights can also indicate an incoming phone call via an alert system.

The jacket is still very much in the developmental stage, but maybe it could change the way bike lights cast some illumination and how they are seen.
