The dust on the trails has settled but we had a great time at Interbike 2012’s Outdoor Demo Days, where were were able to test ride several bikes. Here is a recap of what we hit on the trails.

Interbike 2012: Adrenaline Junkies for Jerseys
Cyclists love jerseys and Adrenaline Promotions of Mt. Vernon, Wash. was on had at last week’s Interbike trade show to show its school spirit. The company continues to introduce new university-themed cycling jerseys. So whether you’ll wear only your school colors or want to collect your favorite schools based on football or basketball this collection is the one to beat with constant additions.
The company’s motto is “represent while you ride” and we think they proved they know how to represent and then some!
Interbike 2012: Eyes in the Back of Your Bike
We’ve seen a few camera mounts that provide that “rear view” for riders and at last week’s Interbike trade show the Hindsight 35 was one that truly could turn heads – or rather keep riders from turning their heads. This offers a seat post mounted digital camera that provides the view from behind as a handlebar mounted display allows riders to see with just a downward glance. Interbike 2012: Buddybike Buddies Up
Buddy Bike, which manufactures “alternative tandem bicycles, introduced two new models for 2012 at this year’s Interbike. The company has designed a special bicycle for families with special needs children, allowing them to enjoy the thrill of riding a bicycle.
The new Buddy Bike Sport Deluxe features the Fallbrook Technologies Inc.’s NuVinci N360 Continuously Variable Planetary transmission, the maintenance-free hub that requires no adjustments and offers the promise to make shifting simple for riders. The Buddy Bike Adventure takes riding to true simplicity with a single-speed model that will be available exclusively to bike rental shops and adaptive cycling programs to encourage families to experience the Buddy Bike. Both bike models will be available in December.
Interbike 2012: Stages Cycling Puts Power Meter on Center Stage
Cyclists of all levels use devices to track distance, time, calories burned and even altitude. But one aspect has largely been ignored – power! At Interbike this week Stages Cycling launched its new patent-pending power meter, the StageONE, which go on sale in January.
The new crank-based power meter aims to allow riders to take advantage of the ability to track power output while riding. The meter is sold factory assembled and built on 14 different aluminum crank models from Cannondale, Shimano and SRAM – with prices starting at just $699. The power meter can transmit to any ANT+ enabled device, and also is compatible with Bluetooth Smart radio devices, so it can work with smartphones utilizing Bluetooth 4.0, including iOS devices. League of American Bicyclist Launches Women Bike
Last week the League of American Bicyclists announced the launch of its new Women Bike initiative, with the goal to empower more women to bicycle and become engaged in the diverse leadership opportunities of the bicycle movement. This includes more women as advocates, engineers, retailers, manufacturers and policy makers, and the League is looking to help women get empowered through networking efforts, as well as through knowledge. In showbiz there is the saying “break a leg,” instead of “good luck.” We get that, but do wonder about the new bike brand that is launching at Interbike this week.
