20XI Golf Ball, Now With More RZN

Athletes know it is important to exercise and tone their core, but engineers who have studied the golf ball apparently realized that its core is important too. Nike Golf made quite an impact when it released it premium 20XI golf balls, which featured a new innovation called RZN last year.

The new proprietary RZN technology resulted in lighter, faster and a more responsive core. Nike Golf took this a step further by adding more RZN to its 20XI ball. Nike claims this larger, softer RZN core improves feel off all shots while maintaining driver distance. The added RZN mantel offers the promise to produce longer shots off irons while providing a softer short game feel, while this combination of core size and mantle could translate into two times more RZN material than the previous generation 20XI.

The new 20XI will be ready to tee off in February.

Wastewater to Water the Fairway

Earlier this week we noted that treated waste water is going to be used to make artificial snow in Arizona this season, and we heard that recycled water from the wastewater treatment plant in Daly City will be used on the TPC Harding Park golf course in San Francisco.

This is reportedly the first recycled water project from the Public Utilities Commission, and it is estimated that the $9 million project could save an average of 230,000 gallons per day. While that is a drop in the bucket compared ot he 70 million gallons used per day city wide the plan is that this could be a good start. The idea here is that this will help save more drinking water for people and serve as a way to use this recycled water for the grass.

Miura Limited Edition Bag

If you happen to have some serious golf clubs – such as Miura clubs by chance – you don’t want to stick them in just any golf bag. Miura Golf, the maker of forged irons, apparently understood this and released its own Limited Edition Tour Bag.

“The world’s finest forged golf clubs deserve the very best bag — and for players who prefer a tour look, Miura’s new tour-style golf bag is the perfect home for Miura clubs”, said Adam Barr, president of Miura Golf

The 9-inch diameter top features six dividers that offers plenty of room for 14 clubs, while the carrying strap can be optimized for two- or three-point harness. The “belly” pocket can hold a rain suit and pair of shoes, plus there is even a hidden umbrella pocket so golfers can be prepared should the weather conditions change. It is made of high quality enamel-finish polyurethane that will endure years of travel. And yet this bag weighs in at just 9.5 pounds. So while it works well on a golf cart or three-wheel push cart this might be one you don’t mind carrying.

Antigua Gets Into Spring

Fall is in the air, Thanksgiving is around the corner and soon it will be winter. But that just means that spring is around the corner, as indicated by the Antigua Spring 2013 Women’s Collection that offers a fresh new color palette that will surely brighten up the place after the long gray winter.

The Spring ’13 collection will offer its own appeal as well, with both stylized mandarin collars to traditional tipped flat knit. The attire will feature scalloped trims and abstract prints – all based on the most current trends. And those suggest that the market is “screaming for color.” As such the line will feature an expanded color palette with a total of six hues ranging from hot pink to a soft purple “pansy.” And for those wanting a more traditional look there is the Black/White collection that won’t have anyone feeling the least bit gray.

“We’ve had great success with our white & black groups over the years, so by expanding our offering of fashion color with neutrals, the customer can purchase one or several items from the collection and mix it with their current wardrobe,” said Danielle Dellios of Antigua.

The new line up also will feature fine denier yarns, for super soft, super lightweight attire that will allow for fast wicking. The line will feature the Desert Dry Technology to absorb and wick moisture quickly and evenly. We can’t wait for spring.
