Calling its new putter “Iconic” is a bold statement, but RIFE doesn’t mess around. The new RIFE Iconic lived up to its name as it was the club of choice at the Par 3 Tournament held last week at The Masters. The Iconic is part of RIFE’s new Vault 001 Series and feature classically designed blade with RollGrove Technology Face that the company claims creates the truest “no skid” roll no matter where you hit the ball. Given the showing at the Par 3 this might be the RIFE stuff.

Antigua Golf has introduced its men’s and women’s Performance Golf Collection, which continues the tradition of bolder and brighter colors than even the bold and bright spring collection. The color palette includes invigorating pop colors such as Lapis, Margarita, Apple, Melon, Phlox, and Zest, for the Men’s Collections, and Light Melon, Kiss, Pansy, Fountain, Margarita, Light Apple, for the Women’s Collections. The summer apparel line features the company’s proprietary Desert Dry and Desert Dry Xtra-Lite moisture management technology so golfers can beat the heat this summer.
Forget the Water Hazards
While a water hazard is part of the game of golf, rain can be a hazard to the golf clubs. The OGIO Aquatech Golf Bag is designed to protect the clubs. It features a fleece-lined, waterproof valuables pocket with mobile phone sleeve along with thermo-welded waterproof pockets for the clubs. And yet it is made of lightweight fabric so this doesn’t bog down wet or dry. There is even a rain hood included.
Hurricane Pants
While you probably shouldn’t play golf in a hurricane the Sunice 2013 Hurricane Collection is there to help keep you dry. The Narooma GORE-TEX Rain Pants will ensure that you’re legs don’t get soaked to the bones either. These feature a lifetime waterproof guarantee, and offer a gripper waistband, snap waist adjusters and pass-through pocket. This way a little weather won’t ruin the game.
Kinetic(Mis)Shift: Rocket Club
httpv://youtu.be/2V7X9lroi_k
If you can’t swing like Tiger Woods why not add some rocket fuel to the golf club? That’s sort of the idea of Rocketry Golf. We’re sure this will be popular with grounds keepers and clubs around the country.
Learn From a Pro
Want to play like a Tennis pro? Just like playing at Carnegie Hall it comes to down to practice, practice, practice. But even with practice you need to know how to do it right and some new apps from Vstrator might help. These are designed to collaborative social coaching tools that allows users to capture, create and share videos of “coachable moments” and further allows coaches to train athletes remotely. Currently Vstrator has apps for tennis, strength training, golf and football. Game on.
Golf of Game
At the end of the day golf is still a game, a potentially enjoyable game but still a game. Mastering golf is so much more, but the Game Golf looks to change that. This system utilizes a GYG device along with a set of club tags, which utilize GPS, NFC, compass, accelerometer and gyrometer. When heading out to the course golfers tag the club to the device, which records every shot.
Data is uploaded via low power wireless or USB to the Game platform, allowing golfers to know what clubs were used, how far the shots were and even accuracy. It could make for a whole new game. Game Golf is currently being developed through an Indiegogo project and its developers are looking to bring it out later this year. Video after the jump
Pair of Clubs
Japanese golf club maker Miura Golf is ready for spring with enhanced options on two of its club models. These include the K-Grind Wedge, which features a fluted sole that is now available in a range of degrees including 52-, 56-, and 60-degree K-Grinds; as well as the straight-neck Passing Point forged irons. These provide a transition design for players whose game may also be in transition, and are aimed at helping those who may not be ready for a smaller cavity or blade model. These clubs will be available next month, which should be just in time to get the golf game on.
Drive Time
Polara Golf has introduced a driver aimed at those “golfers who want to achieve maximum distance,” which would assume would be everyone. The new Advantage Driver features an ultra-thin Beta-Titanium Face that promises to lighter, stronger and more resilient than standard titanium drivers. This can create a “trampoline effect” that can make shots go the distance.
Since this driver goes beyond the performance limits set forth by the USGA we don’t expect to see the pros using them, but for everyone else this could be one to help on the fairway.
U Take 6
All golfers do not feature the same skills, but all golf balls are not the same either. Maxfli looks to level the playing field with its U/6, the first ever six-piece golf ball, which has been designed to provide great distance, soft feel and greenslide spin. It further has the potential to provide golfers of all levels to hit straighter shots and control side spin on off-center hits.
The U/6 is comprised of a large core but also made up of progressively dense mantle layers to maintain distance, create a soft feel, and better accuracy overall as a result of the design. This low density inner mantle layer is built to bring out the engine in the ball and this could increase distance. Want to improve your game, take 6 – the U/6 that is. Continue reading U Take 6
Unlimited Golfing Goes to Dubai
When we think of Dubai and much of the modern Middle East we think of excess. It is the land of man-made islands, indoor ski resorts and other seeming disposable aspects of our modern culture. However there could be a change coming, as Dubai-based We Ace Golf has partnered with American-based Golf Balls Unlimited.
Established more than 10 years ago, Golf Balls Unlimited offers used, and more importantly recycled top quality golf balls at a discount. Perhaps those in the Middle East are seeing that disposable isn’t the only way to go. Press release after the jump
Garmin Re-approaches Golf
It was a little over two years ago that Garmin hit the links with its Approach S1 Golf Watch, and now with the golf season just weeks away the company is back in the swing with the Garmin Approach S2 Golf Watch. This new GPS watch comes preloaded with maps to 30,000 international golf courses, with updates four times a year. This is non-touchscreen device – unlike the S3 – but the S2 offers a club selection and gives users yardage to the front, middle and back of the green, plus layup and dogleg distances to improve usability over the entire hole.
