Dive Fins

CiamilloTed Ciamillo knows a thing or two about cycling, but he also has a passion for the water. He has designed a special water propulsion system that basically puts flippers on the feet! The 2014 Lunocet is the next best thing to turning into a mermaid, and can help humans swim better underwater.

The unique part of the Lunocet flipper is that it attaches to the human foot via cycling shoes – which are already pretty aerodynamic. Now the idea of wearing expensive shoes might seem odd, but then again the Lunocet will set you back nearly $600. But can you really put a price on being able to swim more like a fish?

Shimano Feeling Blue

Shimano-BlueWhile every rider in the Tour de France may want to be in yellow, the Shimano limited edition R320 cycling shoe may have some feeling the need to be in blue. In fact, a group of selected Tour de France riders, including Edvald Boasson Hagen, Simon Gerrans and Marcel Kittel have been spinning through France in these special blue shoes. These offer the same features and technologies as the high end racing shoe R320, including Custom-Fit and Dynalast but has a special blue design.

These limited edition shoes are not only made for professional riders, but are also available for consumers. Shimano produced a limited number of shoes which are exclusively available in United States, Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, The Netherlands, Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Spain, Slovakia, Poland and Israel. Race to the shop to pick up a pair.

Convertible Shoe

Earlier this week we noted that Sidi has a new pair of street shoes that resemble cycling shoes, and now we’ve heard about Retrofitz, which offers a new system that can transform any street shoe into an SPD cleat-compatible shoe. The patented Retrofitz system consists of an impact modified nylon cleat plate that can attach to the soles.

The system is compatible not only with PSD, but with Crankbrothers, Time Offroad, Ritchey and Speedplay Frog cleat systems. The company can transform shoes and even offers a do-it-yourself kit.

Slip On and Clip In

We’ve seen a trend in cycling shoes that don’t look like cycling shoes, but DZR has introduced the Jetlag Nero, the first and only (at least for now) SPD compatible slip on shoe. The company admits it is the “ultimate companion for the lazy cyclist,” but can you really call anyone who takes the time to have special shoes that clip in lazy?

Even the company admits this is a bit of an oxymoron, but either way we like that it is a slip on, clip in and go sort of shoe. Could be perfect for those who commute to work and don’t want the hassle of bringing multiple pairs of shoes – or worse riding on flat pedals!

Eurobike 2012: Sidi Out With a Wire

For 2013 Sidi will be introducing its new line of Wire shoes – which actually made its debut at the Tour de France on the feet of Peter Sagan of the Liquigas-Cannondale squad. The new top of the line shoes showed up at this week’s Eurobike in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

The shoes – as the name most certainly suggests – take advantage of Sidi’s Tecno 3 ratcheting cable system across the entire foot for a more comfortable and uniform fit. A full-release switch makes it easy to take the shoes off in a snap. Continue reading Eurobike 2012: Sidi Out With a Wire
