Chrome Industries continues to shine. The bag maker has introduced the latest addition to its line of Knurled Welded Waterproof Rolltop bags for bike camping, adventure cycling and all-weather commuting. We saw these at last fall’s Interbike and these are finally ready for the daily ride. These are made with a proprietary technology that combines RF welding with a mechanical interlock. These offer a watertight rolltop closure and a loop system for bag expansion, and the result is a durable, lightweight and 100 percent waterproof bag. Continue reading More Chrome for the Bike

Reflecting on Chrome
Chrome Industries’s Reflective Camo collection seems like a bright idea indeed. The company has delivered a number of camouflage bags, and the waterproof Victor compact utility belt is the latest in line to offer a camo pattern by day yet be fully reflective at night. The Victor can be worn across the chest or around the waste, and it features Chrome’s iconic quick-release seatbelt buckle that has an integrated bottle opener.
Camo is the New Black
We’ve seen a wave of camouflage in cycling attire and even cycling saddles. Of course Chrome had introduced camo bags last year. Now the company is releasing its second edition bags that incorporate the Swedish M90 geometric camouflage designs – but these actually work to help riders be seen.
While it looks like the traditional camo that would blend into wooded terrain these bags feature a “camo rain” glass bead print that actually illuminates from 100 feet away when hit with light. There are three new models to choose from – all American made – including the slender Victor Reflective, the shoulder bag Citizen and the backpack styled Barrage. All are ready to have you covered during your commute.
Interbike 2013: Chrome Still Shines
At last week’s Interbike trade show in Las Vegas Chrome put the spotlight on its line of rugged commuter bags and packs for 2014. This included a peak at its knurled welded technology, which utilizes high tech radio frequency welding with a mechanical interlock between thermoplastic fabrics to create bags that will protect virtually anything inside.
These include the Front Rack Duffel 40, which is designed to attach quickly to most front utility racks and can also be carried as a duffel off the bike and the Saddle Bag Rolltop 20, a 20 liter welded-waterproof pannier that can handle adventure cycling as well as the daily adventure to work. The Saddle Bag Rolltop 20 further includes integrated laptop sleeve, five-bar haul handles and a Hypalon MOLLE system. Continue reading Interbike 2013: Chrome Still Shines
Camo Chrome
Bag maker Chrome continues to come up with innovative products. The company offered some upcycled bags made of vintage Warsaw Pact camo sleeping covers, and now it is keeping the camouflage theme going with its new reflective camo bags that reflect light from 100 feet away. The bags feature traditional camo, urban camo and even digital camo – and while these patterns are usually used to help the wearer/user blend in, these allow for the wear/user to stand out, especially at night.
These American made bags are available in three styles, but in limited quantities.
Made in America: Cargo Container
Chrome knows a thing or two (or a lot more) about backpacks, but the Barrage Cargo is ready to haul a lot of gear. This made in the USA pack features compression bucks on the side of the bag, a cargo net that can be used to strap down even a helmet, and includes plenty of room in the main waterproof compartment.
It features 600 denier truck tarpaulin, with fully welded seams inside a 1000 denier CORDURA brand grade nylon shell. There are even pockets for U-locks and water bottles, and it is guaranteed for life.
Difference of Night and Day
Chrome’s new Bravo Night backpack gives new meaning to the concept of versatile. It features full 3M reflective panels that are visible up to 100 meters at night. During the day it looks like a sleek black bag, but when the sun goes down its reflective qualities allow riders to be seen.
The Bravo Night features a 1000 denier Cordura outer shell, with 1000 denier military grade trunck tarpaulin liner, and weatherproof urethane coated YKK zippers. It even offers an ergonomic shoulder-strap with EVA foam back panel so it will be comfortable for the commute to and from work, while the welded-waterproof main compartment will keep a laptop or tablet computer high and dry.
Made in America: American Bags from Commie Materials
While we’ve heard of swords to plowshares, bag maker Chrome is looking to take old military tents and reutilize these as color bags. These include bags made of the Rain Camo that was originally used by Warsaw Pact nations during the Cold War. The shell is made of weatherproof, 1000-denier Cordura and this bag is big enough to hold a 17-inch laptop, while reflective straps will make the bag visible at night.
This line of bags also feature daisy-chain mounting loops for attaching carabineer or bike lights as well as the iconic quick-release seatbelt buckle with integrated bottle opener – something those commies never considered!

Art Bag
We’ve seen some stylish messenger bags, including some that have utilized upcycled materials. Chrome is going another direction with its Artist Series, which incorporate iconic cycling images into the very fabric. These are highlighting the work of Chris Milliman, who has photographed all sorts of cycling.
The series will further celebrate painters, graphic designers, printers, and photographers who have left their mark on the sport. Each bag features a specific photo. And while a wearable piece of art, the bags will also offer what we expect in a Chrome bag! Continue reading Art Bag
Chrome Bag Meets the Gold Standard
When taking expensive cameras on the go you shouldn’t just rely on any duffle bag. And the Chrome Niko camera pack is no mere bag. This waterproof camera pack features a denier nylon outer shell and military grade truck tarpaulin liner to ensure that the gear inside stays dry even in the worst environment. It also offers a fully customizable interior compartment for lenses and flashes, plus a multitude of pockets for cables and accessories. This bag has a quick access top loading compartment that makes for ideal storage for a phone or other small gizmos.
There is even a padded laptop compartment along with front Velcro straps that can be used to secure a tripod, plus a side access U-lock holster. Inside is 600 D interior lining with 10mm of padded foam to ensure that protects the camera and other gear.
