Shock it to Me

Casio-G-Shock-Twisted-MT-G-Casio knows a thing or two about durable watches, and has just introduced its newest G-Shock model. The Casio G-Shock Twisted MT-G Watch features the same resistance to shock, vibration, and gravity you expect from the G-Shock brand, yet with a bit more style. It ditches the plastic appearance that is often associated with their timepieces and opts instead for three chic models: polished stainless steel and resin, ion-plated stainless steel and resin, and a black ion-plated version with gold highlights and a red-paneled bracelet.

All three versions will be available in December.

CasioTalks SCUBA

If you watch lots of movies where SCUBA divers converse just as if they’re walking on the beach, you probably think that the technology is readily available for divers. There are some communication devices, but they can be costly and clunky. Yamagata Casio has developed the Logosease radio, a transceiver that allows users to have spoken conversations underwater.

The Logosease, which will be on show at the Diving Equipment and Marketing Association Show 2012 in Las Vegas, is a pocketable transceiver that makes the ability to talk during SCUBA dives more accessible. Continue reading CasioTalks SCUBA

Casio Mud Resistant Watch

Plenty of watches claim to be water resistant and shock proof, but the Casio G-Shock Mudman G9300-1 looks like it could be ready for the end of civilization, and promises to be the last watch ticking. It is water resistant, shock resistant and can endure mud. Lots of mud!

The internals are protected in a hard plastic and steel casing that makes it waterproof to 200 meters, so it can get wet, dirty and endure the outdoors about as well as any sports watch. It offers a digital compass, thermometer, moon graph, full auto calendar with 12/24 hour formats, and even features 1/100 second stopwatch. At $200 it is a true value, especially for the last watch you might need to buy.

Casio Gets Adventurous

The Casio PRG550-1 doesn’t have that “living on the edge” sort of name, but this sport watch might not need a snappy name. While it isn’t a GPS or heart rate monitor, it tells times and a lot more including providing a compass, altimeter, barometer and thermometer. The second hand on the watch doubles as a compass, while being able to show changes in atmospheric pressure.

With the flick of wrist wearers can also activate an LED light, while an LCD screen can provide compass direction, altitude and more. For the world traveler it can has 29 city time keeping, offers five daily alarms and works as a stopwatch and timer. It is water resistant to 100 meters and can operate with Casio’s Tough Solar Power technology. Press release after the jump

More Shock from Casio

Earlier this week we noted that Casio has a limited edition G-Shock watch for those who want to add a little style to their wrists while on the go. Now Casio is offering a few more options with its G-Shock line, including connectivity to mobile smartphones.

The G-Shock GB-6900 series, which will arrive early this year, will feature Bluetooth LE connectivity and can be paired with select Android smartphones, including the upcoming NEC Medias LTE N-04D and NEC Medias PP N-0ID. This won’t unfortunately transform the rugged time pieces into fitness watches, but it will show incoming calls, emails and text messages on the display – something that can be handy while hiking, cycling or otherwise on the go.

The phones are set to arrive in Japan in March, and hopefully will arrive stateside soon after.
