Sony Gives Preview of New Wearable HD Camcorder
While the wearable HD video camera market already has many strong contenders Sony looks to enter the area with a camcorder that will reportedly feature Sony’s SteadyShot image stabilization technology.
This could make those user created action videos on YouTube a little easier to watch. The new “action camera” will also sport an Exmore R CMOS image sensor and ultra-wide angle Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, which could further help create very good look video. Sony’s Underwater Camcorder Makes a Big Splash
There are many cameras that claim to be able to “go-anywhere” but Sony is looking to prove it. The company unveiled its HandyCam HDR-GW77V last week, a pocket video cam that features a compact vertical body design with a flip-out waterproof three-inch LCD touchscreen. It is waterproof and impact resistant.
The new HandyCam uses the AVCHD compression standard to capture HD videos at up to 1,920×1,080 HD resolution. It features a G-series 17x optical zoom lens and a 20.4-megapixel imager, and will be available in three colors. It hit Japan last month and should make a big splash in the United States later this summer. Video after the jump
CamOne Action Cam
There are several unique takes on the action camcorder market, and CamOne could be a bit of a game changer. Like most rugged go anywhere video cameras, the CamOne Infinity can shoot in 1080p at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps. It can be mounted on a helmet or handlebars, and it offers an LCD screen to view the action right after you shot it.
But what really makes this one stand out is the fact that it offers interchangeable lenses. The CamOne Infinity’s standard lens offers a 170-degee, wide-angle filming in WVGA, 720p and 960p as well as 127-degree filming in 1080p. Additional lenses are reportedly coming soon and will include 142-degree and 96-degree options. Continue reading CamOne Action Cam
Sony Gives Pocket Cams Rugged Abilities with Bloggie Sport
Cisco may think the pocket camcorder is dead, but that isn’t stopping Sony from updating its Bloggie line of dedicated video shooters. The company’s latest model, the Bloggie Sport, is a ruggedized shooter that’s shock proof, dirt resistant, and waterproof down to 16 feet.
It features a 2.7″ touchscreen (which is still functional when the Bloggie is submerged 16 feet under) and can capture 1080p video as well as 5-megapixel stills, all of which is stored on the Bloggie’s 4GB of onboard memory. For those with clumsy hands, the camcorder can also survive drops of up to 5 feet. A hidden flip-out USB arm lets you connect directly to a computer or you can bypass your PC and connect directly to an HDTV using the Bloggie’s built-in HDMI port.
Can’t wait to upload your videos? Sony also offers the more advanced Bloggie Live HD which has a 3″ touchscreen, 8GB of storage, 12-megapixel still capability, and built-in Wi-Fi, which lets you stream straight to Qik Video. However, the Live model loses all the ruggedness of the Bloggie Sport. Both the Live and Sport are currently available for $249 and $179 respectively.
