Blow Up Boat

We’ve seen a variety of fold up boats over the years, but the DinghyGo takes a different approach. The DinghyGo 2 is actually an inflatable sail boat that the company claims is lighter, cheaper and quicker to set up than most other “portable” boats.

It comes with a sailing kit that includes a 43 square feet sail, as well as pump and repair kit. The boat isn’t exactly cheap and at $3,525 there are likely other and more affordable options for those looking to go sailing. By the Boat Load

Imagine loading up the car with all the stuff you could need and then hitting the water in a lightweight boat – but needing no trailer to do so. That’s because the Boatpack is actually an Acrylic-capped ABS plastic car roof box that can hold up to 650 Liters of camping gear, and then can become a boat, complete with wooden seat and folding oars.

It can pack a boatload of stuff and be a boat to boot.

There is the old saying “sink or swim,” but frankly the Aqua-Xtracycle is all wet. Seeing it in action sort of evokes a greener version of the jetskis from Waterworld. In the future if the world is covered by water we probably will let our bike sink and we’ll grab things like tomato plants or just bags of dirt since it seems to be worth more than gold in the post-apocalyptic wet lands.

Now the concept itself isn’t bad. You need to cross water, here is a way to do it. But this doesn’t really seem all that safe, or efficient. It is one of those novelty things that just is looking for a solution where a problem doesn’t really exist. During World War II there were systems designed for floating a Jeep as well – but they proved just as impractical. Our bigger concern is that if this isn’t used correctly it could result in a bike at the bottom of a lake – and we just hope it doesn’t take a rider with it.

This one just gives us a sinking feeling.

Fold up boats aren’t really that new. The military devised folding bikes for more than 100 years, and these broke fairly small. But the Foldboat takes folding to a new level as it offers a boat that can fit in a backpack and yet be assembled into one-man row boat. When things blow up they often go “ka-bomb,” but when the BoatsToGo gets blown up (as in inflated) it becomes a KaBoat. We’re not sure if we’re the only ones that appreciate that joke, but it does describe this crossover that is somewhere between a full-fledged boat and a kayak.

It features a slim hull design that was reportedly modeled after narrow Asian Dragon boats, and this sleek profile allows the KaBoat to glide effortlessly over water at speeds faster than traditional boats, while still providing space for an outboard motor and supplies. As a result the boat travels at faster speeds due to less water resistance, and uses less energy to be propelled in the water as well. But what really turns our heads is that this boat is a lot easier to get in and out of the water.

The KaBoats is available in 12-foot, 14-foot, 16-foot and even an oversized 16-foot version, with prices ranging from $499 to $849. So whether it is half-kayak or half-boat we don’t think this one blows in any way!
