aboutGolf Goes Mobile
There has been no shortage of mobile devices for golf. There is the new Garmin GPS unit designed specifically for golfers, there are countless apps and of course various portable training aids. But now aboutGolf is taking golf simulators out and about with the aG Mobile, a launch monitor that features track ball and club tracking technology. This wireless unit can connect to a Windows-operated tablet or computer/LCD monitor for software display and allow golfers to get real-time data.
The aG Mobile is compatible with aG Balance Pro Tour and Perform Pro Lite devices so users can get advanced data interpretations on the go. It is also durable and weather-proof so users won’t need to worry about getting caught in foul weather (just be sure to have a waterproof case for the tablet).
aG One Allows for Simulated Greens
No matter what the weather may bring golfers looking to improve their game can get into the stroke with the aboutGolf aG one, a standardized simulator system. The producer of PGA TOUR Simulators and golf performance technology has announced the introduction of this new system.
Suited for more restrictive budgets, the system is known for its “One size, One Week, One Price” solution, and the aG one costs about 30 percent less than the customized aboutGolf PGA Tour Simulator while still offering the same principals of accuracy and reliability.Packaged as a complete simulator system, aG one takes only one week to produce and not only includes aboutGolf’s proprietary 3Trak ball tracking technology, but also the company’s 700 Series Software, nine 3D graphic golf courses, a basic enclosure, and turf stance mats.
“For more than 20 years, aboutGolf has been on the cutting edge of golf simulation and performance improvement technology,” says Bob Ryan, Chairman and CEO, aboutGolf. “aG one is just another example of our dedication to meeting clients’ needs without sacrificing the quality that has become synonymous with ‘aboutGolf.'”

Swing Like a Pro… an aG Balance Pro
While not everyone can be a golf pro, aboutGolf will let you get the pro treatment with aG Balance Pro, a new dual force plate technology that the company introduced this week. This new platform, which features Perform Pro software that can be integrated with any 3Track-powered aboutGolf ball tracking including the aboutGolf simulator and aG Studio, uses dual force plate technology that provides detailed analysis of weight transfer during the swing.
“With aG Balance Pro, it is now possible to specifically understand the impact of balance on the golfer’s swing,” says Chuck Winger, aboutGolf’s Vice President of Performance Products. “For the first time, we can see force distribution on the front, back, right and left of each foot, helping us better assess the impact of balance on the golfer’s performance and provide proper instruction.”
aG Balance Pro’s data is presented in easy-to-understand visual graphics, as well as detailed data tables to support scientific analysis. All swing/balance data is time stamped and synchronized to the swing motion from backswing to follow-through, including a clear indication of weight transfer and foot forces at the time of ball impact. The Perform Pro software also supports integration with the optional aG Flix module, providing time-synchronized swing video for analysis side-by-side with aG Balance Pro. aG Control Comes to aboutGolf
Indoor golf centers can take better control of their aboutGolf Simulators. And not just control, but aG Control, a multiple simulator management tool that is designed to help business owners remotely manage users and rounds on the simulators, as well as monitor rounds while they’re in progress. This provides active simulator screens, where users can send messages to the simulators, retrieve information, analyze usage and even remotely access the simulators and view and print scorecards.
“We are in the people business. We’ve got to know each one of our customers as they arrive,” says Steve Graves, owner of Play-A-Round Golf near Philadelphia and early adopter of aG Control beta. “With aG Control we can better identify and manage each customer and enhance their golf experience.”
This control should no doubt help indoor golf centers and in turn help players have been control on the course.
Hit The Links at TPC Scottsdale via aboutGolf’s PGA Tour Simulator
If you can’t make the trek to Arizona, you can still feel like you’re on the course at TPC Scottsdale, as the course is now exclusively available for aboutGolf’s PGA TOUR Simulator as part of its partnership with the PGA TOUR. All 18 holes on the Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale, including the famous 16th hole stadium green and challenging 11th, a 469-yard par 4, are fully 3D rendered, which is critical to realistic play. The Stadium Course at TPC Scottsdale is the second course released as part of the aboutGolf exclusive TPC Collection, which also includes TPC Sawgrass, released May 2010, and TPC Louisiana, which will be released early 2011.
“TPC Scottsdale is a perfect blend of challenge and playability,” says Tim Hawes, Senior Vice President of Retail Licensing at PGA TOUR. “aboutGolf has once again masterfully brought a TPC course to life on the PGA TOUR Simulator, making TPC Scottsdale accessible to more golfers.”
aboutGolf’s PGA TOUR Simulators use 3Trak, the most advanced machine vision golf tracking technology available in the world and advanced 3D golf-software design. aboutGolf’s graphics lead the industry, featuring highly-detailed terrain, reflective water, varying weather conditions, tee signs that can be read (and hit), and moving clouds, grass and flags that blow in the direction and intensity of the wind. The simulator uses data that is based on Global Positioning System (GPS) information and photographic survey data enabling rendering accuracy to within two inches. The TPC Collection retails for $1,500 and is now available online.
aboutGolf Helps JuniorThai Golfers
This week aboutGolf announced that it is helping a number of Asia’s top junior golfers, who are spending more time in the simulator and less on the fairways. Thailand’s Suchaya Tangkamolpraser uses the aboutGolf Simulator at the Bangkok-based Wilding Golf Performance Center, where she is being coached by Shane Wilding, founder of the center. She is not the only standout to be getting into the swing of things at the club either.
Wilding’s students use the simulator for both “on the range” to develop their swing, and “on the course,” which teaches club selection and management.
“The aboutGolf Simulator has a proven record of improving the performance of golfers around the globe, including here at Wilding Golf in Thailand,” says Wilding, an Australian golf coach with extensive amateur and professional (including PGA TOUR stars Curtis Strange, Ben Crenshaw, Tom Kite, David Eger, Graham Marsh and Stewart Ginn) teaching experience in Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and the United States. “aboutGolf technology helped these Junior golfers reach a world-class level of performance and, as an instructor, it is exciting to have aboutGolf’s incredible technology enhancing my teaching philosophies. The accuracy of the aboutGolf system is absolutely mind-boggling.”
Let’s just hope these golfers still get out in the fresh air too!

Hit 18 Holes Without Actually Going Outside
People pay good money to join a golf club, and even more money to travel to some of the world’s most scenic courses – but despite this fact there are times when you just can’t get outside for a round of golf. One way to avoid the weather and still get in a full 18 holes is to take advantage of the latest indoor golf simulator technology. And we’re not talking about a simple putting green in the corner or even golf on the Nintendo Wii, because while the video game experience is good, it isn’t quite like the real deal. For that you’ll have to turn to companies such as aboutGolf, which recently announced that it was the “secret weapon” in Canada’s University of Waterloo recent season.
The technology was utilized by the University of Waterloo’s engineering school, which took it to a new level with UW golf equipment and biomechanics researchers. This included studies of the technology, where engineering students used the aboutGolf PGA TOUR Simulator with new shaft and clubhead deisgns, as well as biomechanic modeling, motion capture, and golf ball simulation and optimization. This collaboration allowed UW’s men’s and women’s golf teams as part of their training for the 2010 season. Continue reading Hit 18 Holes Without Actually Going Outside
