It is hard to imagine a truly diehard Star Wars fan hitting the slopes this winter, but apparently the folks at Burton Snowboards thought otherwise. The board maker has released a line of Star Wars themed boards ($189.95 each) featuring various characters from the original Star Wars trilogy including Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, Yoda and Boba Fett. The boards range from 2.5 feet to about 4 feet long – the former likely inspiring the Star Wars joke, “isn’t it a little short for a snowboarder?” (If you don’t get the joke, chances are these boards aren’t for you). “The droid you are looking for” is after the jump
Of Course Nike Can Dunk!
httpv://youtu.be/7XS4GFnP53c
Expecting a Nike shoe to be able to dunk is… well, like expecting Michael Jordon to dunk. Of course it can happen and more importantly will happen. But we’re not talking about basketball this time, we’re talking about golf! The Nike Dunk, which is available now, has been weatherized and spiked. Thus it can handle a very different kind of dunk as the video above proves! Press Release after the jump
More Shock from Casio
Earlier this week we noted that Casio has a limited edition G-Shock watch for those who want to add a little style to their wrists while on the go. Now Casio is offering a few more options with its G-Shock line, including connectivity to mobile smartphones.
The G-Shock GB-6900 series, which will arrive early this year, will feature Bluetooth LE connectivity and can be paired with select Android smartphones, including the upcoming NEC Medias LTE N-04D and NEC Medias PP N-0ID. This won’t unfortunately transform the rugged time pieces into fitness watches, but it will show incoming calls, emails and text messages on the display – something that can be handy while hiking, cycling or otherwise on the go.
The phones are set to arrive in Japan in March, and hopefully will arrive stateside soon after.

Row, Row Your Workout
For 2012 you might be able to row to a better and fitter you! The American made Waterrower Rowing Machine offers all the benefits of hitting the Charles River without the need to set foot in Boston! What makes this rowing machine special is the WaterFlywheel that was specifically designed to emulate the exact dynamics of the boat as it sails across the water.
Water is 800 times denser than air and thus this machine requires no mechanical dampening or resistance. Instead the water provides a “natural” feel, and creates just the right rhythm of motion as well and once you get in the rhythm of things you might feel as if you’re gliding on air as much as powering down stream!
Reusable Winter Brain Bucket
Helmets are meant to protect the wearer’s head by taking the impact. However, even a minor spill can diminish the protective qualities of a helmet, and after a major crash or blow the helmet needs to be replaced. This certainly makes sense with cycling helmets, but with winter sports helmets there is an alternative.
The Pro-Tec B2 Snow instead features multiple-impact rebounding foam under the shell that can reconstitute after a crash. This allows the helmet to be used time and time again. The downside to this budget minded helmet is that it has just 15 fixed vents and no adjustment, with no audio options. But those who want a helmet to last and last, let the Pro-Tech B2 Snow be the last word in brain buckets!
Casio Hits the Spot With the G Shock
While there is no shortage of digital sports watches available, some people still like a precision time piece. But the only downside is that many of those don’t stand up to the rigors of the rugged lifestyle. So if you’re adventures take you off the beaten path and you want a stylish watch, consider the Casio G-Shock GA11GB-1A Limited Edition (MSRP $179).
It features a black high-gloss finish and is a bit more chic than many of the typical law-enforcement or military looking watches. So it can be worn with nice clothing as well as globe trotting grab.
But this one can stand up to some rigors as well. It is “bombproof” with magnetic and shock resistance, as well as water resistant to 200 meters. It features an LED light, offers 29 time zone capability, along with a 1/100 second stopwatch plus alarm functions. It might not track heart rate or calories burned but for those on the go, this one will tell the time and a bit more! Continue reading Casio Hits the Spot With the G Shock

Made in America: Cane Creek 110-Series Bicycle Headsets
If you have a threadless headset on your bike, you have John Rader and Dia Compe Japan to thank. After meeting at the 1990 Mountain Bike World Championship held in Durango, CO, Dia Compe became the exclusive licensee of the threadless headset system known as the Aheadset. Sprint Through the Night with Sprinter Headlamp
Whilst creatures of the night such as vampires can see in the dark, those not of the undead are (dare we say) blind as bat after nightfall. We’ve noted many products that help shine the way, and another option is the “Sprinter Headlamp” from Black Diamond. This is an LED light that is worn as a headband and offers 75 lumens of light.
But unlike other lighted headbands this one also includes a red rear blinky light to let those behind see you as well! After all, you wouldn’t only want to be seen by the vampires!

A Hole In One Massage
httpv://youtu.be/iLIuLGUqzRM
Getting the little ball in the hole can be tough, but using the ball for a massage has gotten easier. GolfBall Massage has introduced the new SPAball Kaddy and KaddyBACK products that make it easy to incorporate golf ball massage into any personal or professional wellness program.
The SPAball Kaddy is creatively designed, and ergonomically balanced, cup-like device that cradles a ball and provides a massage, while the KaddyBACK was designed based on the common practice of putting a golf ball in a sock, placing it against the upper back area, and pushing it against a wall to allow the ball to massage hard to reach back areas. Both products are now available and can help you get that massage, even if you never get a hole in one.
Snowkiting Lifts Off on West Coast
There are sports even we haven’t heard much about, but one to watch for 2012 could be Snowkiting, which is reportedly poised to take off in Tahoe and the West Coast. The sport is that includes jumps, flips, spins and is powered by the air – much like parasailing or windsurfing.
And unlike snowboarding or skiing, which are just downhill, snowkiting lifts you up.
