It’s a Ski, It’s a Snowboard, It’s…

Two skis, one snowboard; that’s how those of us who prefer warm-weather sports remember the difference. But now there is confusion with the dual snowboard, which looks sort of like a board cut in half and worn kind of like skis.

But apparently these are catching on, and could be yet another way to hit the slopes – if the snow actually arrives this winter. Check out the video to see why these might just shake things up. Continue reading It’s a Ski, It’s a Snowboard, It’s…

SHOT Show: Muck it Up

The great outdoors are great, but not on the feet. For those who like to rip the terrain with all-terrain vehicles chances are the feet take ripping too. The boots are also designed to be durable and yet lightweight, and most importantly will keep mud and muck out. Continue reading SHOT Show: Muck it Up

BikeShelf Saves Space

For urban dwellers and those with tight spaces finding room for a bike can be no small task. Italian designers BYografia have introduced a solution in the form of a bookshelf designed for bikes. This allows the bike to be hung from the front wheel, while the accompanying shelves allow for storage of other bike gear – or maybe a few books!

Made in America: Okabashi Brand Shoes

In a country of over 300 million people, the United States has very few manufacturers making shoes for all of those feet. Most of those jobs have headed outside our boarders into countries with lower wages and lower environmental regulations, but not all have left. In fact, there are some companies that have started up and are thriving based on the idea of creating a niche product instead of trying to become overly diversified. One such company is Okabashi Brands, Inc. of Buford, GA. Their low-cost, environmentally friend shoes are 100% recyclable and are made in America. What’s in a Name? Douchebag Has Us Asking

Maybe Jon Olsson should have thought about the name, but apparently he liked the ring of the “Douchebag,” which is actually the result of collaboration between skiers, designers, engineers and a technical university. Apparently the pro skier, who travels more than 300 days a year with his skis, looked to create a bag that could hold two pair of skis and basically got input from 150 skiers. New Pará Boots

There are boots that can be good for walking in deep wet snow, but these aren’t exactly good as hiking boots. Fortunately Hi-Tec Sports will bring out the new Pará Boot, a new pair of boots that offers “the best of standard rubber boot with the flexibility, comfort and performance of a hiker.” It features a Vibram sole and removable footbeds, along with a waterproof rubber upper, neoprene lining and a “toggle closure” to make them watertight. These weigh just a pound and a half on each foot, and at $105 they might be more than other pairs, but it is like two boots in one!

Sounds like a great boot that won’t let your feet slip or get wet!

Put an iCorkz in It

In normal travels a lot of dust and grime can get on our handsets, but if you travel off the grid – or just out in the wilds – imagine what could damage your smartphone. A smart way to help keep the bad stuff out is the iCorkz, where are tiny plugs molded to exact specification to ensure a sealed and secure fit. By putting an iCorkz in it, ports say clean, dry and protected! Cheers to that!
