Flat Running Shoes Still Cool for Novices
According to a new study from the Aarnus University of Denmark flat running shoes present no greater risk of injury even to those who pronate or supinate. The research suggests that novice runners should think about their overall training regime and consider old injuries instead.
This study tracked927 healthy runners – all who wore the same neutral running shoes – and found that 252 had sustained a running-related injury, while the risk regardless of pronation or supination, remained the same. The study did not however address whether supportive running shoes should be used following an injury.

Action Wipes to the Rescue this Summer
Last fall at Interbike Action Wipes really saved us. Not only were the bins of the full body wipes a welcome site outside of the port-o-potties during demo days, the oversized wipes were welcome for other uses during the show.
When we got back to our hotel after a long day of riding bikes in the desert, we were in desperate need of a shower. That was when we discovered there was no hot water in the hotel. The layers of sweat, desert dust and maybe a little bike grease made the thought of going to bed and showering in the morning impossible. These include wool caps for those less than warm days – which many of us are still enduring. In addition the company offers a lineup of lightweight caps for those hot summer days to come.

X-1 Has Serious Momentum
X-1 Audio can’t be slowed down, as the company has some serious momentum with its new headsphones. These sport-specific earbuds are designed so that cyclists and runners (or anyone else) can still hear ambient noise while enjoying the tunes. The open ear design allows for that ambient noise from cars and other people to get through, and while maybe not ideal for those looking to escape the world it could be the difference between hearing the approaching car or getting run down.
The Momentum earbuds aren’t exactly rugged designs but do feature an Ingress Protection Rating of IP4 so these can endure sweat and rain without worry.

It’s Their Move
The European Cyclists’ Federation (EFC) has announced a new partnership with the International Sport and Culture Association that includes a 1 million euro grant from the European Union budget that will be used for the 2013 edition of MOVE Week, which will take place in October.
This annual Europe-wide event is an integral part of the NowWeMove (2012-2020) Campaign, which promotes the benefits of being active and participating regularly in sport and physical activity. A wide range of promoters of physical activity will be supporting MOVE Week 2013 including individuals, non-governmental organizations, schools, companies and municipalities from all European countries.
This offers advice on reasons to start being active, and how just swapping 30 minutes of TV for 30 minutes of activity can go a long way. We see this as the beginning of a serious MOVEMENT towards better health across Europe.

This winter Adidas unveiled the Energy Boost, which featured a revolutionary cushioning technology, and now the shoemaker has revealed the adizero Adios BOOST, a race-ready funning model that has already hit the pavement in a few marathons this year. This model features a full-length BOOST midsole that is complemented by a high-grip rubber outsole designed by tire-maker Continental to help runners go the distance. The only downside to this is that the shoes won’t be in stores until October.

From Giz Mag: JF-Kit House makes you pedal for your breakfast
The JF-Kit House, by Spanish-based Elii Architecture, is an off-grid home concept which envisions occupants using exercise to offset their energy needs. To its credit, Elii Architecture makes it clear right off the bat that the JF-Kit House isn’t intended to be considered as suitable for human habitation yet. Rather, the architects did some brainstorming and imagined how our homes may evolve in a future of rapidly decreasing fossil-fuel resources.
