Snowboard Sales

Snowboard

From Transworld Business: Snowboard Sales Hit Three-Year High In February; Inventories Drop
While snowboard industry season-to-date sales are still down, brighter days appear to be on the horizon thanks to a healthy dose of late-season snow across the country. February saw a 12% uptick in snowboard gear sales from last year and inventory and carryover sales both shrank, leading to a positive outlook for next season. Armoured Strom

Under-Armour-FTHR-Shield-TRWhile running in the park the barefoot thing might work just fine, but when running on a rough and rugged trail not only might shoes be a good ideal but only the right shoes will do the job. This is where the Under Armour FTHR Sheild TRC Strom Trail Running Shoes come in. These look like something from a future battlefield, and offer off-road micro-lugs to provide stability, aCompFit ankle construction for support and a lock-down fit and MicroG cushioning that can handle rough terrain. There is also P2i technology in the upper that can repel water while still allowing the feet and ankles to breathe.

Thin and Light

S-LABWhen we think of the concept of thin and light we tend to think of a laptop computer – as that is a category in the space. But the Salomon S-LAB Light Jacket is also thin and light, weights just 2.5 ounces and folded can fit in most wearer’s pants’ pocket. Now this one has no hood, no pockets (so you can’t shove any jacket in the pocket) and it isn’t meant to be a rain jacket. It will block the wind, which can come in very handy in these cool spring days. It also has that retro Speed Racer look to it, which we find kind of cool too.

Newton Transitions With Energy

Newton_Energy2Newton Running is a running shoe company that’s made a name for itself by creating running shoes with a minimal design. That is a shoe that works with the natural running motion – which the company says is toe to heel. Newton will release the Energy running shoe in July, which is a transitional running shoe that will help those wearing conventional shoes on the road to better adapt to the natural running motion. Presto Chango

Nike-Lunar-PrestoNike has offered up its magic again with its new Lunar Presto cross training shoe. This lightweight footwear feature water-resistant mesh upper, along with a Flywire lace cage that ensures a great fit while limiting the bulk. The Lunarlon sole is out of this world too, but the hardest thing might be getting one of these on the feet – as Nike could be sold out already.

Shoe for a Midnight Ride

New-BalanceWhile Paul Revere’s Midnight Ride was cut short by the British, he might have made it had he worn the New Balance Limited Edition Boston 890v3. This shoe is a special version made for the upcoming Boston Marathon – which sort of is trying to be in step with Asics’ recent Los Angeles Marathon running shoe. The Boston 890v3 features glow-in-the-dark stars on the midsole and a nocturnal design that is ready to warn of impending invasion. Best of all this shoe is made in America! Catch them if you can.

These retro-style running shoes feature a leather upper for a premium old school look but with ENCAP midsole for added support. These are even available in four colors patterns including black/red, navy/white/red, the highly visible yellow/black/white and the ready for spring blue/silver. All are sure to put a spring in your step.

Curious Runner

MizunoThe Eudibamus Cursoris is one of the oldest known bipedal creatures, and gives its name to the new Wave EVO Cursoris running shoes form Mizuno. These are designed to provide a more stable platform along with increased cushioning for runners looking to transform to a midfoot strike. The shoe features a ZERO Ramp offset between the heel and forefoot to provide this natural plane that is tailored to a midfoot strike, while the flat-bottomed foretfoot design is coupled with a wider platform to provide greater stability.

Perhaps the Eudibamus Cursoris learned to run on its midfoot. Given that this little runner – the Latin word was “cursor” no less – was quite swift and didn’t have shoes to protect his tiny feet we can only assume this was the case.

Cool Runnings

The ECCO BIOM Lite 1.1 shoe has a casual look to it, but it is actually meant for running, hiking and other activity. The concept here is that it is the shoe you can wear every day but if the mode strikes to start running it can handle it. The BIOM provides a natural foot position that is akin to the barefoot running shoes, which is expected as this shoe has virtually no padding. Thus this shoe encourages a mid-foot landing.

It also is far more stylish looking than the typical running shoe, but still features a thin rubber sole to provide some grip on the trails or pavement. It is the kind of shoe that might make you decide to run home from work.

Get Crazy, Get Quick

Adidas has introduced its new Crazyquick performance footwear line, which the company touts as being the latest innovation designed specifically to help make athletes quicker. This includes a line for basketball, football, running and training; and each gives athletes better controlled flexibility, better traction and optimal foot lockdown. So while it is good that Adidas is thinking of the “Quick” part, there are a whole lot of athletes that probably don’t need any help on the “crazy” part.
