Yurbuds Intros New Inspire Talk Earbud

Yurbuds designs headphones worthy of someone training for a marathon or triathlon. The Inspire Talk headphones are compatible with most smartphones, and have a one-button “dry-mic” sweat and water resistant microphone and control.

The new model comes in shiny black, a departure from the red models in previous Ironman Series earbud headphones from Yurbud. The one-button “dry-mic” control is sweat and water-resistant. It operates as a microphone to handle phone calls, even while on a run. With one button, runners can answer and end calls, start and stop music, adjust the music track and transmit a clear audio signal.

While the Inspire Talk is aimed at a broad number of smartphones, it has the ability to launch Apple’s Siri voice control query on the iPhone 4S.

This is reportedly the toughest case yet, offering a thermoplastic shell that provides a 3000th of an inch in accuracy to provide a perfect fit. The handset can be locked in via a medical-grade stainless steel latch, providing protection from the elements. This suit of Armor for the phone is waterproof, dustproof, shock proof and crush resistant. The video above will offer some information on why you might want to suit up your iPhone.

Interactive Racquet

There are more and more devices that are helping track an athlete’s performance during training or competition. The Babolat Play & Connect interactive tennis racquet could help players avoid faults altogether. The racquet looks just like any other out there, but in the handle are sensors and electronics that can track performance. This can be downloaded afterward via USB or even streamed line via a wireless connection to a computer, tablet or smartphone for tracking of activity in real time.

This is reportedly the first time that MEMS (Micro Electro-Mechanical Systems) technology has been built-in a tennis racquet, but something tells us this won’t be the last. And while this information could be used to help train, it can also be used by those watching the game as well. A prototype was shown off at the French Open, where the audience could get stats on shot type, power and consistency in real time. Video after the jump

Exergy Tour Tracker App for Women’s Cycling Race

In cycling, women don’t get a ton of recognition. Few races are broadcast on TV, and there aren’t quite as many teams worldwide as there are for men’s cycling. Even if you the Exergy Tour cycling stage race going on this week throughout Southwestern Idaho won’t be broadcast near you, you can track the progress of female cyclists on the inaugural tour with the Exergy Tour Tracker app, available for iPhone, iPad and Android.

The app will provide live coverage of the women’s cycling race in Idaho.

“The unique ability to bring the inaugural Exergy Tour to a world-wide audience through Tour Tracker and its innovative mobile video platform speaks to Exergy’s vision to further engage corporate sponsors, media, spectators, athletes and fans,” said Heather Hill, marketing, communications and events director for the Exergy Tour, in a corporate statement.

“On site during the event, spectators will also be able to watch the live Tour Tracker video simulcast on the big screens – allowing fans to watch start-to-finish coverage every day of the Tour whether they are at work, out and about, on the course or at the finish line.”

Prior to the start of the race we loaded the Tour Tracker app. It lists participating teams but doesn’t yet have profiles on each of the riders. We like the “Cycling 101″ section under Extras, which explains cycling terms such as a tour, stage, time trial, neutral start, finish line, general classification, peloton, domestique and other terms commonly used in professional cycling.

Gooma’s Case Marine Goes The Distance

httpv://youtu.be/BJ9sVhiwuhU

There are a lot of waterproof cases and containers on the market for mobile phones and tablets, but this week Gooma started showing off its Case Marine soft cases for smartphones and it boasts a waterproof rating of IPX8 as the video above shows. This is the highest class in Japan Industrial Standards and amazingly it does with just 0.25mm of polyurethane.

So how do they do it? Well, apparently this material also features a special finish while the screen segment itself is made of acrylic. The result is a less bulky case that can go up to 10 meters deep!

AIRbutz Let Air, Ambient Noise In

Music is essential for workouts, and earbuds are an easy option to plug into a smartphone or MP3 player. Yet those earbuds can block out ambient noise that you need to hear, such as oncoming traffic. AIRbudz is a replacement for the earpiece that comes with your earbud headphones. Air channels allow ambient noise to enter your ears, while not distorting music. Clever Ski Pole

Winter is finally over – in fact it never arrived for much of the country – but that doesn’t mean it isn’t too early to think about next year. Actually it is Neva too early, as in Anthony Griesel’s Neva microprocessor-equipped ski poles that will bring “smart” technology to skiing and back wood snowshoeing and hiking.

Each pole features a waterproof grip with a mini-computer that can be linked via Bluetooth to an app on a user’s iPhone or Android device, and this could allow for flashes for incoming calls and even the ability to take calls without taking off the gloves. Other possibilities include text messages, and basic (but very useful data) such as temperature and elevation, as well as time. GPS could of course be a future possibility. Video after the jump
