X Cube Marks the Spot

Golf-X-CubeImprove your swing with the Golf-X-Cube, a patent-pending training aid that can make the game on the fairway a little more enjoyable. It consists of a UV-resistant polyamide reinforced cube with a hole on the bottom to insert a tee to keep it in place.

The Golf-X-Cube sits between you and the ball as you practice your swing, and this can help with proper golf stance, as it guides you to hit the ball more consistently and straighter. The designers claim that in as little as 15 minutes you will see an improvement in your swing. X marks the spot.

Golf Sense Swings With New Features

GolfSenseZepp Labs has announced a major update to its mobile swing analyzer system, the GolfSense system, which features a wearable motion sensor along with a free mobile app. This helps golfers analyze and improve their golf swing.

The GolfSense 3.0 version features a SwingScore, which evaluates the quality of each swing based on personal goals; provides a Dashboard that identifies what golfers are doing well and what needs some work; and provides a Lab Reports that analyzes and tracks the trends throughout a session. Those reports can even be shared via social media including Facebook and Twitter. The GolfSense system also lets users isolated a single aspect of the wing via Focus Screens, while the app can track club head and head speed, plus backswing position and even help golfers achieve their ideal swing plane.

GolfSense 3 is available for download from the App Store for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch or from Google Play for Android mobile devices for free. While this might not get you on the pro tour it might be enough to help you knock a few strokes off on the way to the green.

Kinetic(Mis)Shift: Golf Board?

GolfBoard

Perhaps there should be a Kickstopped instead of a Kickstarter – case in point is the Golf Board, a project that is looking to create a standup electric golf cart. This is one we wanted to like, but found it to be a little misguided. With a few days to go it isn’t clear if the designers will get the funding, so apparently we’re not alone in thinking that maybe walking nine holes isn’t such a problem!

Swing Right With the Swingbyte

SwingByteGolf has been around for a long time, and while the game has evolved over the years with new equipment the last decade has seen the game on the green really go high-tech. Among the newest advances are apps, and the Swingbyte is one that works with Android and iOS and features a simple device that attaches to any club including driver or putter. It is paired with a mobile device via Bluetooth and automatically records details on swings including club head speed, acceleration and club face angle.

With this users can analyze each swing and see what they were doing right and wrong.

Nike Looks to Adapt

Nike-HyperadaptAdapt or die. For Nike Golf it is apparently never say die, instead the company looks to not only adapt but to Hyperadapt with its new golf jacket that promises to give athletes added comfort, mobility and of course protection from the elements. It featured no-sew technology throughout the inner layer, which helps minimized chaffing, while a four-way stretch system maximizes mobility and eliminates any restrictions in the swing.

The Hyperadapt Storm-FIT jacket recently withstood wind gusting at 35 mph along with heavy rains during the Irish Open, so it should more than work out for most golfers heading for nine holes.

Lefties Get Forged Blade

Miura-GolfSouth paws don’t always have an easy time of it, as the world is often created by right-handed people. But Miura Golf is looking to make it a little easier for those left-handed golfers. The company has expanded its left-handed offerings to include a new LH Limited Forged Black Blade and new LH Black Wedges.

The LH Limited Forged Black Blades will certainly seem similar. These feature the same shape and performance to the company’s RH Limited Forged Black Blades. In addition the new LH Black Wedges mirror the successful Miura RH Black Wedges, featuring lofts in 51, 55 and 59 degrees. These also features design that follows the performance principles of the RH Blacks.

The Blades and Wedges offer a striking no-glare, jet-black finish that “breaks in” over time and play, settling into a silvery-gray patina that’s a little different for each golfer, depending on where and how often he or she plays.
