iPhone Scuba Case For Underwater Use

While the TAT7 iPhone Scuba Case won’t actually let you use the handset as a phone underwater, it will let you snap away with the smartphone’s digital camera.

It is made of clear polycarbonate and features a hinged opening, while double gaskets allow the iPhone to go deep to 100 feet (or about 30 meters). It provides three buttons on the back to allow users to access the basics, including touchscreen photo and video controls.

For those who want to snap a few “deep sea” or just “in the pool” shots, this should be an excellent solution for making the iPhone your own under water camera.

The crew at OtterBox have long created durable iPhone and other smartphone cases for the demanding users, but now they haven’t created a Military-Style version for the iPhone 4S that looks tough enough to take into battle. The Air Ion Up There

Plenty of action sports cameras can capture your moment of glory or your agony of defeat, but the ION AIR PRO HD Spots Video Camera is the first that is capable of recording full HD video and allowing you to share the footage in real time via a social networking site. The camera can be wirelessly connected with a smartphone or table PC running the company’s free-to-download app and the add-on Wi-Fi PODZ attachment. Continue reading The Air Ion Up There

The Name is Bondi

Innovative need not be high-tech, but the right innovation can work well with our high-tech devices. And the Bondi is just such a piece of innovation; this silicone holder for the iPhone (which would probably work with other smartphones as well) is like a little protector that will hung onto the handset for dear life.

Bondi can be stretched or contorted into unique positions and could be a way to hold the phone on a bicycle – although there are probably better handset mounts for that purpose. But where Bondi really could come in handy is for those who hit the gym or regularly workout on a fitness machine. This $20 device could be a great way to securely stash the phone so it isn’t dropped or worse forgotten. Handy for the handset indeed!

Something to GAIN

There is the old saying about “no pain, no gain,” but maybe GAIN Fitness can make the gain a little less painful and a little gainful. The company introduced its GAIN 3.0 app for the iPhone last week, and it offers a GAIN Plan for users, a custom 4-week workout plan, as well as a expansion pack store for multiple training styles. CamOne Action Cam

There are several unique takes on the action camcorder market, and CamOne could be a bit of a game changer. Like most rugged go anywhere video cameras, the CamOne Infinity can shoot in 1080p at 30 fps or 720p at 60 fps. It can be mounted on a helmet or handlebars, and it offers an LCD screen to view the action right after you shot it.

But what really makes this one stand out is the fact that it offers interchangeable lenses. The CamOne Infinity’s standard lens offers a 170-degee, wide-angle filming in WVGA, 720p and 960p as well as 127-degree filming in 1080p. Additional lenses are reportedly coming soon and will include 142-degree and 96-degree options. Continue reading CamOne Action Cam

Sanitize Before You Drink It

Don’t drink the water – a warning that often goes unheeded. But if there is no better source of water, and you’re traveling to foreign lands or doing the camping thing than the Portable Water and Surface Sanitizer from Hammacher Schlemmer might be a good thing to have with you. It is a pocket sized device that reportedly can eliminate 99.9 percent of germs from water and surfaces.

It emits UV-A and UV-C light to penetrate bacterial membranes, destroy their DNA, and kill harmful microorganisms like E. coli, Staphylococcus, and Salmonella. So while it can’t remove everything from water, if the locals are drinking it, this will help make it safer for you.

It is also quick. It can sanitize surfaces in 10 seconds and make two cups of water “safe” to drink in just 40 seconds. It is available now for under $100, and it runs on four AAA batteries, so it can go just about anywhere and help you enjoy some water with less worry.

Motorola Gets ACTV With Golf Edition

We’ve reported on the Motorola MOTOACTV a few times already, but we’ve circled back as the company announced a new golf edition that is ready to hit the links. This actually includes a partnership with the mobile device developer and three-time PGA Tour winner Bubba Watson. This new MOTOACTV takes proven GPS tracker and basically has added a virtual caddy and online clubhouse into the mix.

It features 20,000 golf courses in the database, and allows players to check the distance to the front, center and back of the greens, as well as distance to hazards. It can track the user’s score and of course sync to the MOTOACTV service. It will be ready for 18 holes beginning April 1. Full press release after the jump

Bluetooth Brings Radio to Riders

If you’ve felt envious of the pro riders with their race radios, you can now have your own communication system – and unlike the riders in the big races, you can go wireless.

Cardo Systems has introduced a new model of Bluetooth wireless radios specifically with cyclists in mind. The BK-1 features a design that is similar to cardo’s scala rider line for motorcycle headsets, and offers voice-activated, two-way and even three-way rider communications within a 1,600ft range. It also provides hands-free use with Bluetooth compatible devices including mobile phones, MP3 players and GPS units. Continue reading Bluetooth Brings Radio to Riders

Housing Bubble

There are many rugged cameras that can do the underwater thing, but only a few SLR cameras that can get anywhere near the wet stuff. However, Nauticam has released a new housing for the Panasonic DMC-GX-1 camera. The NA-GX1offers an ergonomic grip that is sculpted into the housing, and ports for the various lenses that can be used underwater including Lumix 14-42mm kit lens, the Lumix G Fisheye 8mm, Lumix 7-14mm, and the Panasonic Leica 45mm macro lens.

The NA-GX1 is rated for 100 meters and features a housing back that is sealed with an easy to operate safety clasp to avoid accidental opening when going deep.

eSport Clip Offers Affordable Media Player

It used to be that media players were so expensive that you’d never want to actually use them while working out. But like everything else the technology gets faster, smaller and best of all for the end user cheaper. How low does it go? We recently heard about the eSport Clip MP3/Video player from Ematic, which offers a 1.8-inch screen so it can be used to watch video clips or even read e-books and text files. And it is just $29.00.

So for under $30 you have a 5megapixel digital camera as well, and the device includes a 4GB flash drive for 2300 songs, or 20 hours of videos. It is easy to sync up with the USB 2.0 connection. It probably isn’t the most durable device but at this price are you really going to worry?
