Dual Horn and Light

We’ve seen a lot of bicycles lights and a quite a few bicycle horns. Now we’ve seen both in a single package as Tory Orzeck, an industrial designer from Portland, Ore. has created a device that fuses the two together. Fittingly he named his company FUSE, and has developed the Orp Smart Horn, a combination decibel bike horn and front beacon bike light.

The USB rechargeable Orp can provide 76dB of sound to alert cyclists and pedestrians that the rider is coming, but in traffic it can kick out 96dB that even cars will notice. It also offers twin 87 lumen LEDs that can be operated in three modes including slow and fast strobe or constant to shine the way. Video after the jump

Swiss Army Watch Has Night Vision

We’ve seen a variety of Swiss Army products from Victorinox, the company behind those multifunction devices and gizmos. One thing that the Swiss Army Knife doesn’t offer is a way to see in the dark, but that’s where the Night Vision watch comes in. This time piece features a series of integrated LED lights that enhance the ability to see the timepiece but also can be used as a flashlight and as a strobe that can be used as an emergency distress signal. The watch also has a red pilot light designed to help find it in the dark. Originally launched back in 2003 the Night Vision has gotten a makeover this fall. Video after the jump

Your Fitness Bud

We’ve seen a lot of fitness headphones and earbuds but the latest to turn our heads are the wireless BlueBuds X from JayBird. According to the company these “rewrite” the rules of Bluetooth audio, which is quite a bold statement but the early user reviews indicate the company is delivering the goods and more.

The key to this is that Bluetooth may be fine for transmitting sounds a short distance, but often with by compromising some quality as it requires the music be decompressed when sent through the air. The BlueBuds X utilize a native Bluetooth SBC codec called Shift, which can deliver a level of purity and sound that could rival and even challenge wired headphones. Video after the jump

Blaze of Glory

We first heard about Blaze back in June of 2011. This handlebar-mounted laser cast a virtual bike in front of you to provide a signal to cars that you were in their blind spot. The system was developed by University of Brighton student Emily Brooke in the U.K. That was the last we heard of it, until now. In the nearly a year and a half that has passed Brooke has launched a company, developed a working prototype and launched a Kickstarter project to fund the creation of the first batch.
