Nike Goes to Court

We’ve seen a number of Nike shoes this year, but the Nike SB Challenge Court is aimed at two seemingly different types of athletes. As Nike shows in the video below it can appeal to both Gino Iannucci, Nike Skateboarding team rider, and tennis champ Jon McEnroe alike! Continue reading Nike Goes to Court

Eurobike 2012: Sidi Out With a Wire

For 2013 Sidi will be introducing its new line of Wire shoes – which actually made its debut at the Tour de France on the feet of Peter Sagan of the Liquigas-Cannondale squad. The new top of the line shoes showed up at this week’s Eurobike in Friedrichshafen, Germany.

The shoes – as the name most certainly suggests – take advantage of Sidi’s Tecno 3 ratcheting cable system across the entire foot for a more comfortable and uniform fit. A full-release switch makes it easy to take the shoes off in a snap. Continue reading Eurobike 2012: Sidi Out With a Wire

Barefoot Golfing?

Adidas has introduced a variety of new shoes this year – and now two different trends have apparently merged. Adidas has made inroads in the minimalist shoe category and has been active with a variety of golf shoes. Now the Puremotion golf shoes deliver that lightweight and minimal feel for the fairway. These shoes are waterproof and flexible, and come with a 90 day comfort guarantee.

Since most courses probably won’t let you golf barefoot this might just be the next best thing.

Fibrax Shows 2Face

Serious or even semi-serious road cyclists know that road pedals and cleats have one serious problem – namely that they wear out. This is most notable of the Look Keo style cleats, as the plastic wears quickly when riders do anything other than ride. Just touching down at stop signs and lights can quickly wear out the cleats, which often should be replaced once noticeable wear is seen – otherwise the cleats can float incorrectly in the pedals or worse break. Either can make it hard to pedal properly, which can be annoying and even dangerous.

But Fibrax have introduced a novel system, pedal cleats that can be rotated to prolong the life. Dubbed the 2Face the cleats can be removed, turned and remounted, which adds to the life of the cleats and ensures a few more miles. Continue reading Fibrax Shows 2Face

Outdoor Retail Show: Minimus Hi-Rez Shoes Promise Big Step Forward for Running

The minimal running shoe concept continues to take foot, and at the recent Outdoor Retail Show New Balance offered a look at its Minimus Hi-Rez, a running shoe that weighs just 4.3-ounces yet provides a reasonable amount of cushion and protection for the wearer.

The secret is the hexagon rubber pods on the sole. 42 of these unconnected nubs, which are mounted on the soft foot bed, provide cushion for those who want to go minimal but not quite barefoot. The sole is flexible and each pod moves independently as the wearer walks or funs, but still provides that moderate protection.

The shows will be available later this summer.

Review: Adidas AdiPure Trainer Toe Shoes

I was recently given the opportunity to try out the new Adidas AdiPure Trainer Toe Shoes and give my opinion on what I thought of them. So, I figured why not give it a go.

At first glance you can already see that it will be a new and interesting experience. I have never tried the minimalist toe style shoes in the past and was intrigued on how it would be. I pulled the shoes out of the cloth bag that they came in and was caught off guard by their red color and unusual toe design. I immediately took off my socks and slid the shoes on to my bare feet. I found it a little difficult, at first, to get all of my toes in to the areas of the shoes in which they belonged. But, once I did I found that they were very comfortable on my feet. It was almost like wearing gloves. Continue reading Review: Adidas AdiPure Trainer Toe Shoes

Commuter Shoes for Riders

There are plenty of bicycles designed for commuters, and a lot of accessories including bags and apparel. But one piece of equipment often missing is the right shoe! Road and mountain shoes can be a problem as many buildings don’t like the idea of cleats on their precious floors. This makes it hard to keep a pair of shoes at the office and commute in with bike shoes.

But the Teva freeride shoes could work well for those who don’t mind flat pedals, which aren’t a bad idea for commuting. The shoes offer Pedalink tread to grip the pedals, while offering enough style that you might not need to change them for work.
