It might only be January but Adidas could have you itching to get to the golf course. The company has introduced its newest golf shoes and they are ready to make a tour. The adizero Tour feature ultra-lightweight adizero technology that has been found in running and basketball shoes, and the result is a golf shoe that will put a snap in your step through 18 holes. The new Sprintframe outsole is just 1.2mm thick making for a shoe that will feel good throughout the whole round.
And while the shoes are available in black, white and light gray it will be hard to miss these in bright yellow!

Rather this comfortable modern boot offers the snowboarding look, complete with uppers made of oiled leathers and textiles, while the wool lining with lambskin will keep the digits inside nice and warm. MilestonePod Tells When Your Shoes are Toast

It’s easy to set up a cycle computer on your bike so you can determine how many miles you go each ride, and even to get a total for the bike. Running shoes, it’s not always so easy. Even worse, it’s difficult to tell when your shoes need to be replaced. A new device, the MilestonePod, aims to solve those problems, and more. Podium Has Your Shoes Covered
Winter bike riding means bundling up, and that can include putting the shoes in a cover. There are plenty of streamlined basic shoe sleeves, but the guys at Podium Shoe Covers have introduced some that feature a bit of humor. These include covers that evoke the look of a work boot (above), dress shoes, roller skates and even high heels.
The covers are also offered in three weights including summer, spring/fall and winter, and are available now!
Serious Under Armor
Barefoot running may be natural, but nature isn’t so kind to the feet. Rocks, roots and other objects on the trail can hurt! German shoemaker GoST looked to this old age problem and used old age technology to solve it. The company created the PaleoBarefoots, which utilize chainmail. The material protects from sharp objects but still gives a tactile sensation of the ground while running. The shoes truly let runners go medieval on the trails!
STABILicers Grip the Ice
This winter does not appear to be repeat of last year when the snow and ice were far and few between. For those who want to get out in the wilds but not end up flat on their backs there is the new STABILicers, which transform any winter boots into grip ready shoes.
Developed by Maine-based 32 North the STABILicers can be worn over most boots and feature snow tire studs for your feet. The STABILicers Lite are recommended for those who work outdoors and need to trek through snow and ice, while the STABILicers Sportrunners are for those who like to partake in winter activities. While the Lite model feature non-replaceable multi-directional steel cleats, the Sportrunners are designed with replaceable cleats to ensure years of gripping the snow.
Either model should help you trek across a frozen and iced over driveway!
Vibram CEO to Make a Run With Topo
Tony Post, former CEO of Vibram, who can be credited with getting the barefoot running craze started, is launching a new company for the New Year. Last week he announced that Topo Athletic will be up “up and running” for 2013.
“Post’s new company marks the latest chapter in his ongoing quest to develop innovative products that help athletes become better, faster and stronger,” said a company press release. The company will debut its product line at the Outdoor Retailer winter market tradeshow in Salt Lake City on Jan. 23, 2013.

Barefoot Winter Shoe
Time and tide wait for no man and when the snow falls you can either wait until spring or hit the treadmill to get in a run. Or you can add some layers and endure a run in a winter wonderland. But what if you prefer the barefoot running? That doesn’t seem to mix with ice and snow.
But Vibram FiveFingers still has your feet covered while offering that minimalist style with glove-like fitting shoes designed for the winter. The Lontra feature a multi-layer laminate upper with fully taped seams to provide insulation and water resistance, while the micro-pile fleece liner is soft against the skin. The neoprene heel cuff will keep out snow and debris as well. Continue reading Barefoot Winter Shoe
Outdoor Retail Show Preview: Abominable Snowshoes
Like Bigfoot the Yeti, also known as the Abominable Snowman, remains something illusive. More a myth than reality, but Louis Garneau has could allow winter trekkers to tackle the snow like a Yeti.
The company has introduced the Boa Closure System to its line of high-performance Yeti snowshoes in advance of next month’s Outdoor Demo and Outdoor Retail Show. Designed for the back country these lightweight snowshoes utilize the Contact Pro Harness System for on-the-fly adjustment and a secure fit. It might be just the thing for those who hike in search of mythical snowmen.

Holiday Gift Idea: Overshoes for Cycling
It is easy to get “cold feet” when riding a bicycle in the winter. Not cold feet of the “I don’t want to do this” variety but literal COLD FEET! Cycling shoes are designed to breathe and that isn’t good when the temperature dips down. However, the Rapha Neoprene Cycling Overshoes, which as the name implies feature 100 percent neoprene sleeves and a reserve coil zip and Velcro ankle closure to provide a secure fit. These will keep the feet toasty – so the rest of the body can get cold first!
Nike Free Trainer for More Than Running
Nike Free isn’t the same as “sugar free” but it unfortunately does have that ring to it. But rather it isn’t about being without Nike but about being free. We’ll stop trying to figure it out and move and say trainers aren’t just for running, and that’s where the Nike Free Trainer 3.0 will come in when it comes out in January. This lightweight shoe will offer a Free outsole, an upper mesh with polyurethane support and a Dynamic Fit system to cradle the midfoot and provide a snug fit. Hence these shoes still provide freedom along with support. We don’t know what these will cost, but it will be something more than free we’re guessing.
Blow up Snow Shoes
Earlier this week we reported on the Bike Pants from Bulgarian based Any Exit. Apparently the former Communist Bloc country has taken its 20+ years of freedom very seriously as it has developed some impressively innovative ideas. In addition to pants with removable pockets designed for cyclists, the company has created the inflatable Small Foot snowshoes, which are designed for use in emergencies.
These have the appearance of life rafts on the foot when inflated, but can packed down quite small, so could be good for anyone who goes hiking and worries about snowing coming in. The creator reportedly came up with the designs while lost in the mountains in knee-deep snow. Let’s just hope he wasn’t wearing the Small Foot Bike Pants and had something more appropriate for the wilds. Video after the jump
