Sure an old clothes line can be used to “jump rope,” but the CrossRope system promises to be so much more. The CrossRope features cables tailored to specific training needs, while the system’s handles are so much more than just plastic rods. The multi-piece sets ensure that users will have the right cables – with varying weight and resistance – for the workout. This is one system that essentially hops to it! Video after the jump

Home Fitness
From Giz Mag: JF-Kit House makes you pedal for your breakfast
The JF-Kit House, by Spanish-based Elii Architecture, is an off-grid home concept which envisions occupants using exercise to offset their energy needs. To its credit, Elii Architecture makes it clear right off the bat that the JF-Kit House isn’t intended to be considered as suitable for human habitation yet. Rather, the architects did some brainstorming and imagined how our homes may evolve in a future of rapidly decreasing fossil-fuel resources. This was then used this as a jumping-off point to let imaginations run wild. Continue reading Weekend Reading List (05.18.2013): Home Fitness, Training Surfaces, Board Ban
Sending Out An SOS
SOS means many things. It is the universal distress and it does remind us of that kind of lame song by The Police. But the SOS Rehydration Drink is the only product to use the World Health Organization’s oral rehydration standards. This isn’t just another energy or sports drink, as it can reportedly enhance the body’s water absorption process by mixing the correct amount of electrolytes and sugars. The SOS has only 25 calories per serving and a low osmolality of 230 Osm/L to more effectively transport water into the body. It can thus be used before, during or after exercise to aid rehydration and recovery. Video after the jump
On the GRID
Many people try to get away from it and get off the grid, but those who suffer from muscle pain may want to get on the GRID Mini, a personal foam roller that can help increase the flow of blood and oxygen through the muscle and provide better circulation with increased elasticity. The GRID Mini from Trigger Point Performance Therapy thus provides a personal targeted massage. It is just five inches tall by 5.5 inches in diameter and thus ready to roll with you. It was introduced at the recent IHRSA Fitness Tradeshow in Las Vegas and is now being “rolled out.” Video after the jump
Truly Minimal
We’ve seen minimal shoes but then there is the Merrell Vapor Glove Shoe, which its makers call “the most minimal show Merrell has ever made.” It is reportedly half the weight of weight of a regular running shoe at just 6 ounces on each foot. It thus gives a true “barefoot” feel while still providing protection from sharp rocks and other debris you might encounter. In other words this could be for the runner who wants to go barefoot but isn’t quite there.

Move Down
From SportTechie: LetsMoveDown: The App That Gets Fans Closer to the Action
We have all been there before. Heading to the game and then making a move towards more promising vacancies in the lower level shortly after tip-off or first pitch. Squatting in empty seats closer to the court or playing field will usually get you thrown out by an usher or embarrassed by the actual ticketholder. Well, now there’s an app for that. Band Aid
Those suffering from back pain obviously need more than just a band aid, but the Mighty Body Band might be just the thing to bring users back from pain. Designed by veteran yoga practitioner/teacher Miguel Latronica ERYT, the Mighty Body Band is used in many types of fitness activity and exercise including yoga, Pilates, cross training and general stretching. It can help build better coordination and agility for balance exercises and help with strength work, as it can alleviate low back pain by releasing lateral hip rotators and hamstrings. Wipe Out
There are times when a shower isn’t possible, and after a run, ride or other workout you just don’t feel clean. If a shower isn’t in the works than Action Wipes might be answer. These full-body after-exercise cleaning wipes also require no rinsing.
The maker claims these wipes contain natural ingredients that will actually leave the user’s skin feeling clean and refreshed. These include plant-derived ingredients such as oils including Tea Tree, Eucalyptus, Ylang Ylang and Frankincense. These wipes are also naturally antibacterial and antifungral, and feature no harsh sulfates, parabens or synthetic fragrances and these are even alcohol-free. The 9×10-inch wipe is also durable enough to be used to clean up the equipment as well.
