Goto Vargo
We have a serious appreciation of titanium at KineticShift and for that reason alone find the Vargo Titanium Wharn-Clip Knife to be kind of cool. Add the fact that it is made from a single piece of the super strong medal and that it is easy to sharpen over and over, plus it features an integrated clip and that just make it super cool. This is a knife that can is light enough you won’t notice it but it can still be looped to a bag, on the belt or vest and be there when you need it.

Made in America: Totally Hosed
Sadly many of the old industrial centers of the United States are now just crumbling ruins – but Detroit Cargo is preserving the past with some upcycled products including a new card holder made from very old fire houses.
As Detroit Cargo noted, these fire hoses have not been up to code since the 1960’s and only in Detroit can you find buildings that have been abandoned long enough to find these old hoses. They’ve salvaged them, clean them and sew a leather strip to the bottom. They’ve created card holders that can carry ID, credit cards, business cards and more. These are cycle friendly as the card holder fit in the products.
And just like America’s industrial past this product won’t last forever. Detroit Cargo expects to run out of hose later this year, so grab them while you can.
Made in America: Topo Down
If you are hitting the trails consider being armed Topo down with Topo Designs new super minimal Trail Pack, which features a lightweight build thanks to its use of durable 500d Cordura body and sleek straps made from seatbelt webbing. Aluminum hooks keep it together while keeping the weight down.
The packs are made in Colorado and are available in Navy (above), red and sand and are ready for your next trail excursion.
Make a Move

This new case features a washable band with Dry+Flex technology and can securely hold an iPhone 5/5c/5S on the sleeve while still providing access to the screen, while an optional cord management clip offers storage for excess headset cables.
Portable Shower
If you’ve just done a massive bike ride, a long run or been out at the campsite for a couple of days chances are you might not want to wait until you get home or at least back to a hotel to shower. The Road Shower brings the shower to you – or at least to your car. It is an eco-friendly add-on that mounts to a vehicle rack and uses solar power to heat up the water. It can provide a pressurized shower that can be pumped up with a bike pump, tire pump or even a compressor (in case you are already too tired from that actual workout).
While you won’t have privacy showering by the side of the road, it could be a good way to clean up a bit, or at least hose down the gear before the long ride home.

Axe And You Shall Receive
Two years ago Baden Sports introduced the Axe Bat to the world of baseball. It was meant to refine the way that batters gripped the bat.
Since that time Vijay Gupta, professor of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of California Los Angeles, along with a team of researchers have performed a study that shows that an axe-shaped bat handle offers players significantly more bat control, power transfer and acceleration while significantly decreasing the risk of injury compared to traditional bats with round knobs and handles.
The study, which used NCAA Division I baseball players and slow-motion video analysis, applied principles of dynamics and biomechanics to compare bats with axe-shaped handles to those with traditional round knobs. The analysis extended to comfort, bat control, transfer of power to the ball and injury potential.
“Looking at both handle types from a biomechanical standpoint, the angled knob with a flush backside offers many compelling advantages,” said Gupta, who authored the study. “This includes a more stable grip and a more even distribution of swing forces on the hand and palm, resulting in a safer, more comfortable, and more controlled swing.” Continue reading Axe And You Shall Receive
