While TV’s The Brady Bunch taught us not to play ball in the house the gang at Wasatch Indoor Bike Park are taking to Indiegogo to build a place to ride year round in downtown Salt Lake City. The group hopes to convert a vacant warehouse for use as an indoor mountain bike and BMX park. We’ve seen a few similar ideas take off and this one sounds like it has potential.
However, with just a few days to go the goal is still far away, so we’re not sure this one will pan out.
The Cardboard Bike, which we first reported on last year, came about as inventor Izhar Gafni looked to transform the way bikes are produced and used. Now the Israeli-inventor looks to get the project rolling via Indiegogo. He’s has lofty goals and is looking to raise some $2 million to bring out this affordable bike that is truly made of cardboard, yet is durable and even waterproof.

We’ve seen a few attempts to bring out a wooden cycling helmet, but the Street Deluxe Wood from Lazer Sport might be the best yet. It features a woodgrain shell that offers 16 vents to keep the head cool while looking pretty damn cool too.

Bicycle component maker SRAM has introduced its new QuickView Computer Mount Adaptor that allows riders to use its handlebar computer mount with Garmin computers that offer a slide mount or quarter-turn twist mount. For just $5 this is an ideal solution to getting the Garmin devices to work with SRAM’s mounts.
The Oregon DOT has published the Bicyclist’s Survival Guide, which includes practical information on what every cyclists should know. We just wish that drivers would follow these rules as well.
Garmin has shown the way for many serious riders, but now the company is looking to help the touring riders find their way as well. Garmin is bringing out a full featured navigation model for bicycle touring.
The Garmin Edge Touring won’t offer such things as power data but instead will provide complete mapping tailored to those who want to get out and explore the world on their bike. This will include turn-by-turn directions, while the unit will come with preloaded routes and is compatible with Garmin Connect and Garmin Adventure.

Discount retailer WalMart has offered some affordable bikes over the years and this week we heard that the store is offering a 29-inch Mongoose Hex Men’s Fitness Bike. This BMX/freeride mountain bike features an aluminum frame with 36×12 gearing and 29-inch weight. Best of all it is reportedly just $159, making it a good commuter or bike for the campsite.

We’ve seen many attempts to integrate a light system into a bike, and the Light-Post is certainly a novel idea. It is currently wrapping up a Kickstarter project and its creator, Andre Brown, hopes to bring out seat post with an LED bike light later this year. The Light-Post is features an li-ion battery along with the electronics and LED lights mounted inside the seat post, offering a sleek design and ensuring that the light isn’t forgotten. When we think of countries and bikes we do think France and Italy, even Spain and Germany – and of course China (for good or bad). But not Estonia. However, designer Indrek Narusk is looking to put the Baltic nation on the map with his Viks cycles. These steel frames feature two mirror images that are connected only at the bottom bracket, seat tube and head tube. We’re not sure what this adds to the ride, but it certainly offers a unique design.
