Jersey for Human Kind

Maccabi-JerseyCycling can be an expensive pastime. Not only do bikes cost a pretty penny but the attire can be quite pricey. KindHuman looks to help ease the pain of looking good on a bike, and has introduced a new line of affordable cycling attire. The first piece is the limited edition Maccabi Jersey, which commemorates the Maccabi Games.

These are held every four years in Israel and are often called the Jewish Olympics. KindHuman mechanic Ayal Rahat finished second in the Games’ cycling road race four years ago and was expected to compete in the 2013 Maccabi Games Road Race last month. The Maccabi Aktive jersey will retail for $75 with a portion of the proceeds directly supporting Maccabi Canada athletes.

Made in America: Wooly Jersey

Cedar-CreekFemale cyclists can look forward to a new line of Merino wool cycling gear from Cedar Cycling. This American made line of attire is aimed at the high end of the market, and smartly tailored for women riders.

The company called in 12 females to determine what they liked and didn’t like about cycling clothing, and the result is something that is bound to please most cyclists. The standard jersey is made from their proven StandardWool, which is a blend of Merino wool and nylon. This results in a breathable, anti-microbial, abrasion resistant and shape retaining fit.

The jersey was designed in Oakland, California and sewn up in nearby San Leandro. It will be ready to ride later this summer. The company is now offering it for pre-sale.

Made in America: Cargo Container

Chrome-CargoChrome knows a thing or two (or a lot more) about backpacks, but the Barrage Cargo is ready to haul a lot of gear. This made in the USA pack features compression bucks on the side of the bag, a cargo net that can be used to strap down even a helmet, and includes plenty of room in the main waterproof compartment.

It features 600 denier truck tarpaulin, with fully welded seams inside a 1000 denier CORDURA brand grade nylon shell. There are even pockets for U-locks and water bottles, and it is guaranteed for life.

Tubed Wallet

Simple-WalletWe’ve seen a number of “upcycled” products, and Jason Lauritzen’s Simple Wallet is one that lives up to the name. He has taken used bicycle tubes and created ride-read wallets – which can be used even by those that don’t bike. This creates a nice use for tubes that might otherwise end up in a landfill. The check won’t bounce but maybe the wallet will! Video after the jump

Fix the World

Pure-FixBicycle maker Pure Fix announced this month that will donate $100 from the sale of two special edition bikes – The Uniform and The Yankee – to Charity:Water, an organization that funds water projects in developing countries. The Uniform features Pure Fix’s standard fixie frame in yellow with a black fork and black deep-section wheels. The Yankee has a matte black frame with yellow deep-section wheels. Retail prices start at $325, depending on options.

This sounds like quite the pure intention to us.

Tour de Force

Rapha-Team-Sky While you didn’t ride to victory in the Tour de France (unless you are Chris Froome and we’d be impressed if he were reading this), you can still suit up like this year’s winner. Rapha has released a special edition Team Sky Tour de France victory jersey. Available in September it will feature the team riders’ names are printed on the rear pocket and features sponsor logos, and even a yellow strip on the arm and down the back.

The company is also launching a slim-fitting black cotton victory T-shirt that carries the outline of France (surprisingly doesn’t include Corsica) and includes the names of the nine squad members of Team Sky. Continue reading Tour de Force

Rebel Yell

Repair-RebelKickstarter is full of multi-tool projects, and some will take off and some will just remain concepts. We have a good feeling about the Repair Rebel, a titanium multi-tool that can attach under a bike seat. It offers 24 various tools, include a dozen or so hex heads, a T25 tork head, Phillips screw driver and even some spoke keys. It is larger than some of the ultra compact tools we’ve seen, but this provides all the tools in a single piece so that there is nothing to lose and no moving parts.

The disc style design also provides more grip than those too-compact tools. This Repair Rebel could just about start a revolution. Video after the jump

Universal Mount Up

Tate-Labs-Universal MountTate Labs have followed up on their Bar Fly series of handlebar mounts for cycling computers with the new Universal Mount that can be used with a smartphone, GPS device, light or GoPro style rugged camera. The mount doesn’t actually include specific mounting hardware but instead offers a space on which to clamp the necessary accessory. It is a simple concept that could be truly universal.

Heck Yeah, a Bicycle Turn Signal

httpv://youtu.be/Uy0-qE3q_T8

Modding king Ben Heck can do anything with a solder gun and some electrical circuits. What he did recently via his Ben Heck Show webcast was to create a wearable turn signal. The video above shows how he did it!

Taking the Edge for TT

K-EdgeTime trial and triathlon bikes are set up quite differently from road bikes, and this can make mounting a cycling computer a bit of an issue. Fortunately where there is a problem someone sets up with a solution. In this case it is K-Edge, which just announced the release of the TT Mount, which can accommodate Garmin’s ¼ turn interface and places the popular GPS cycling computer between the bar extensions, so riders can glance down and see the information and yet focus on the ride.
