Pocket Protected

Adventure-UnderwearNeed to stash some cash while out on a run or a hike? The Adventure Underwear aren’t exactly what we think James Bond might wear, but these travel briefs feature a waterproof pocket, which can be used to hold some money, a small electronic device, the plans to a secret base or who knows what!

This special underwear is being developed via a Kickstarter project and could feature 100 percent superfine Australian merino wool. The cool factor is that there are two hidden pockets that are waterproof. One is a quick access pocket that is ideal for money and credit cards, while the second is large enough for a small phone or passport and is certified to be waterproof up to 200 feet deep by Scuba Schools International.

The pockets are reportedly even “food safe” as these are made from new age polyethylene, but we’re not sure if you’d want to actually put food down there.

Of course we do wonder if wearer’s might hear, “is that a mobile phone you have in your underwear…” Video after the jump

Jersey for Human Kind

Maccabi-JerseyCycling can be an expensive pastime. Not only do bikes cost a pretty penny but the attire can be quite pricey. KindHuman looks to help ease the pain of looking good on a bike, and has introduced a new line of affordable cycling attire. The first piece is the limited edition Maccabi Jersey, which commemorates the Maccabi Games.

These are held every four years in Israel and are often called the Jewish Olympics. KindHuman mechanic Ayal Rahat finished second in the Games’ cycling road race four years ago and was expected to compete in the 2013 Maccabi Games Road Race last month. The Maccabi Aktive jersey will retail for $75 with a portion of the proceeds directly supporting Maccabi Canada athletes.

Made in America: Wooly Jersey

Cedar-CreekFemale cyclists can look forward to a new line of Merino wool cycling gear from Cedar Cycling. This American made line of attire is aimed at the high end of the market, and smartly tailored for women riders.

The company called in 12 females to determine what they liked and didn’t like about cycling clothing, and the result is something that is bound to please most cyclists. The standard jersey is made from their proven StandardWool, which is a blend of Merino wool and nylon. This results in a breathable, anti-microbial, abrasion resistant and shape retaining fit.

The jersey was designed in Oakland, California and sewn up in nearby San Leandro. It will be ready to ride later this summer. The company is now offering it for pre-sale.

Skate India Thanks to Levi’s

Skate-IndiaWhile there are groups that supply bicycles to those in need in Africa, and we’ve heard about various efforts to get skateboarding to those in Afghanistan, we heard about new efforts by Levi’s – the San Francisco clothing maker – to help build a skate park in Bangalore, India.

Levi’s looked to help make the Holy Stoked skate park, which is a collaborative effort that included local skaters, pros and even construction specialists from Germany, a reality and flew in the various experts and pro skaters. This also coincides with Levi’s launch of the First Global Skateboarding Collection. Video after the jump

Tour de Force

Rapha-Team-Sky While you didn’t ride to victory in the Tour de France (unless you are Chris Froome and we’d be impressed if he were reading this), you can still suit up like this year’s winner. Rapha has released a special edition Team Sky Tour de France victory jersey. Available in September it will feature the team riders’ names are printed on the rear pocket and features sponsor logos, and even a yellow strip on the arm and down the back.

The company is also launching a slim-fitting black cotton victory T-shirt that carries the outline of France (surprisingly doesn’t include Corsica) and includes the names of the nine squad members of Team Sky. Continue reading Tour de Force

Anti Shark Suit

SAMSDespite what movies such as Jaws or Discovery Channel’s Shark Week might suggest, shark attacks are actually not all that common. However, about 100 people are attacked by sharks each year and this isn’t all that comforting to surfers and divers.

Researchers have suggested that black wetsuits could make wearers look like seals, which just happen to be a shark’s favorite snack. Australian based Shark Attack Mitigation Systems (SAMS) has developed a line of wetsuits that are designed to look a little less appetizing to sharks. These feature a disruptive pattern that sharks may have trouble seeing, or even make them think otherwise about taking a bite.

While sharks can reportedly detect small amounts of blood in the water from miles away and can detect electric currents in the water for the kill – or rather bite – the shark depends on vision. This is where the SAMS suit comes in as it could provide enough to confuse the shark, and give the wearer time not to be the catch of the day. Video after the jump

Flirty Cycling Pants

FlirtWe know summer won’t last forever, which is why we’re already considering attire for that cooler weather. The Novara Flirt Pedal Pusher bike Capri pants from REI are ideal for those who want to ride as the weather cools down. These feature nylon/spandex blend with 2-way stretch that allows pants to move with riders, while moisture-wicking finish keeping the skin dry. These offer a perforated gel pad to provide cushion, while the fabric provides a UPF 50+ sun protection, because as the weather cools down the sun can still be bright in the sky.

Nike Looks to Adapt

Nike-HyperadaptAdapt or die. For Nike Golf it is apparently never say die, instead the company looks to not only adapt but to Hyperadapt with its new golf jacket that promises to give athletes added comfort, mobility and of course protection from the elements. It featured no-sew technology throughout the inner layer, which helps minimized chaffing, while a four-way stretch system maximizes mobility and eliminates any restrictions in the swing.

The Hyperadapt Storm-FIT jacket recently withstood wind gusting at 35 mph along with heavy rains during the Irish Open, so it should more than work out for most golfers heading for nine holes.

Made in America: Pedal Pushers’ Jersey Speaks the Truth

Pedal-PushersWith the words “Know Your Enemy NYC” this cycling jersey from Pedal Pushers is one we’d say has a hardcore look to it. Anyone who has ridden the mean streets of Sixth Avenue pre-bike lanes can understand this one. While New York City may be far more bike friendly, it still isn’t for the faint of heart. And while this one was made in California we still see it has that Big Apple attitude.

This jersey is for those who can handle a bit of traffic.
