Shock it to Me

Casio-G-Shock-Twisted-MT-G-Casio knows a thing or two about durable watches, and has just introduced its newest G-Shock model. The Casio G-Shock Twisted MT-G Watch features the same resistance to shock, vibration, and gravity you expect from the G-Shock brand, yet with a bit more style. It ditches the plastic appearance that is often associated with their timepieces and opts instead for three chic models: polished stainless steel and resin, ion-plated stainless steel and resin, and a black ion-plated version with gold highlights and a red-paneled bracelet.

All three versions will be available in December.

Skateboard Class

skateboardGreen Bay middle students won’t be allowed to ride skateboards in class, but they’ll be able to learn to build them from scratch. While some students will opt to use the boards, others are in to test their design and graphic art skills.

Art teacher Sara Tlachac reportedly thought it was a way to get students working with their hands to create something unique, and more importantly that they could even use. Certainly beats the papier-mâché animals we made in class!

Pathfinding Shoe

VibramThe Vibram Smart Concept Sole could help you find your way after dark. Introduced at the recent Outdoor Retailer Show in Salt Lake City these shoes feature a remote controlled LED lighting system that allows the soles of the shoe to illuminate the ground.

The concept was inspired by the need of military, law enforcement and firefighting personnel but it could be ideal for those who look to run after the sun goes down – or before it comes up. The shoes’ LEDs offer three brightness settings, and even a flashing red LED tail light so runners can be seen as well as see where they are going.

All(Ston) In

Bern-AllstonHelmets are designed to protect the wearer’s head, but often this means something that is hot, comfortable and doesn’t exactly let the wind blow through the hair. The Bern Allston Helmet might be the next best thing to riding without a helmet as it features 16 vents, and a removable liner system that truly offers airflow.

In addition to breathing this helmet weights just 13 ounces and is available in several fashionable colors – because we know for some that does matter.

True Bicycle Grit

CogburnReuben J. “Rooster” Cogburn is a fictional character who first appeared in the 1968 Charles Portis novel, True Grit. Cogburn Outdoors likely has nothing to do with that fictional character, but the company is a division of Quality Bicycle Products – the makers of Surly and Salsa fat-bikes.

The reason we thought of Rooster Cogburn is that this bike is something we’d almost expect to see him ride if he were around today and not merely a fictional character. This is a “hunter’s bike,” and offers a place to store a bow or rifle. The CB4 offers a rack, oversized tires and even a camouflage frame.

It is a bike that we think has some “true grit,” and we don’t mind saying so.

Radiator Active

RadiatorSharks can really spoil a day at beach and while there are various wetsuits designed for surfers, but Radiator’s line of underwater appearl is designed so that divers aren’t the catch of the day either. While sharks smell and can track blood from miles away they actually rely on sight to hunt. The Radiator Elude helps divers blend into the background while the Diverter makes divers appear as more dangerous objects. These suits make it safe to go back into the water.

Call it Mr. FixKit

FixKitThis isn’t Mr. Fix It, but rather FixKit. Either way it is the one tool you might want on that next bike ride because it is actually multiple tools in one. The BioLogic FixKit offers spoke tools, allen wrenches, pedal wrench, screwdrivers, chain tool and even a crescent wrench. With this in your cycling kit you might just become the true Mr. Fix It to your tool-less and clueless friends.

Dive Fins

CiamilloTed Ciamillo knows a thing or two about cycling, but he also has a passion for the water. He has designed a special water propulsion system that basically puts flippers on the feet! The 2014 Lunocet is the next best thing to turning into a mermaid, and can help humans swim better underwater.

The unique part of the Lunocet flipper is that it attaches to the human foot via cycling shoes – which are already pretty aerodynamic. Now the idea of wearing expensive shoes might seem odd, but then again the Lunocet will set you back nearly $600. But can you really put a price on being able to swim more like a fish?

Specialized Goes SWAT

Specialized-SWATWhen we think of SWAT we think of that 1970s TV show about the police in dark blue uniforms – or police in dark blue uniforms. The idea was “Special Weapons and Training.” Specialized isn’t looking to arm up cyclists, but instead is providing a special system for carrying gear on the road. The SWAT – Storage, Water, Air, Tool – is an alternative to saddle packs as it will be built directly into frames of various 2014 models.
