Where to Ride on Travel?

When traveling to a new area, it can be hard to find a good place to go for a bicycle ride. One resource is a list of rides maintained by long distance cyclist called Permanents. These Permanent routes are used for self supported timed events (called brevets) and normally showcase the best riding in a region. Here is a story about one such ride in Santa Cruz, CA from fellow Colorado cyclist John Lee Ellis. There is a link to the Permanent Map. You can filter or just zoom in on an area. Click the route icon for links to details and contact info. Enjoy and find some new rides. One that caught my eye is Beartooth Pass near Red Lodge, MT. The route description is: Charles Kuralt called it the most beautiful drive in America — how much better by bicycle?
