To drink, simply turn the bottle upside-down, put the spout in you mouth, squeeze the bottle and drink. To mist, shake bottle lightly and squeeze bottle in the upright position having the spout pointing to whatever you want to mist. This is a feature best left for just water, it is probably not advisable to mist using a sports drink.
