There is no fountain of youth. At least not one we’ve found. But with exercise and nutrition you can turn back the hands of time — a few years. But how do you know when you’ve reached that magical and everlasting age of 29? Some tools can help you work towards and achieve your quest. The Mio FitStick is one such tool. This gizmo helps you measure your Heart Rate Variability (HRV), which is one way to gauge what’s going on inside your body.
The FitStick is about the size of a USB thumb drive. You breathe into it for a minute while wearing a chest strap heart rate monitor while connected to the PC. It uses biofeedback to measure your real age and gives you charts on the computer to explain what’s going on. You can use the FitStick to determine your real age, meditate to calm the daily stresses, and chart out progress as you exercise and eat well to become more healthy. Did you think this stick was going to do that for you?
When you connect to the computer you’ll interface with Youngr.com, which was developed in collaboration with Mio and heart-doctor and chief wellness officer at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Michael Roizen.
The FitStick doesn’t replace a trip to your doctor, but it does give you some of the statistics you’d get from a battery of tests at a medical office. You can use it for incremental results between visits, and in some cases it may even alert you to the need to see the doc as the FitStick does look at your heart rate and other vitals. We’re still looking for the fountain of youth. But with a little help from FitStick, we may be able to shave off a few years in the meantime.
